Dior Bridal Makeup Workshop with Fredis V and Makeup Junkie!

If you recall this post I told you about two beauty workshops being held in Toronto. The first one was held this past Sunday and it was taught by Fredis V the Senior makeup artist for Dior Canada!

Joy of the Makeup Junkie was such a great host. She was able to bring together seasoned and budding makeup artists together in a casual and fun atmosphere. The class was such a great opportunity to learn the latest trends in bridal makeup, share challenges and learn tips and tricks from Fredis, a definite pro in the industry.

Fredis felt more like a friend than a teacher. He was very encouraging to all ladies present no matter what stage they were in their makeup artistry careers, from working part time at beauty counters to freelancing while balancing other non related jobs.

The first part of the afternoon was Fredis sharing his experiences with brides and talking to everyone about what they wished to improve on. The course was very personal and hands on.

The next part of the course was the fun part, makeup application! Each makeup artist was tasked to do a bridal makeup application on a model. At each step Fredis went around providing feedback and showing his techniques and tips on how the artists could improve.

Fredis showing how to do a bold navy smokey eye! Head's up brides: Navy is hot right now!!!
If you don't want to go this bold you can always add navy in more subtly.

I even ended being a model as we were one model short LOL!

I got my makeup done by the lovely Sarah of Allure Makeup Artistry

Me and Joy - she's so lovely!!!!!

All the ladies there said they had an amazing time at the workshop and they learned so much.  Many of them said it was great to be able to ask an expert questions one on one.

I am not a makeup artist (obviously!) but I have even more admiration for the skills everyone had!  They are truly, truly talented and I was so honored that I was able to learn along side them industry "secrets" that I can perhaps apply to the way I do my own makeup.

For more pictures please visit my facebook album and please tag yourselves there!
It was nice to see some familiar faces at the work shop such as:

Sarah
Jill
Naomi
Donna Marie

It was lovely catching up with you ladies!

Joy is holding another workshop this coming Sunday with celebrity makeup artist Lucky!  I'm really looking forward to this one :)
There are still some tickets left; it's sure to be another great workshop so get your tickets here.

  15. You are stunning, lady! I didn't even realize there were different types of techniques specific to bridal make-up. I've been wearing the same make-up the same way for years. That's one area where I don't mess around because I know NOTHING. It's sad. :)

Love your makeover Elaine! You look beautiful! And how fun to be around so many professionals and take in great beauty tips. I am a little "make-up challenged" so I need this type of event! lol!
