Joanna:
I have long been a firm believer in supporting Canadian brands. Sometimes it seems like there aren’t too many of them; but they are out there and many of them are very popular as well, even in the U.S.
Years ago, I discovered Cake. My collection started small, with purchasing the powdered dry shampoo at a little, upscale store downtown that mostly sold clothing. I had not ever seen this brand anywhere else at this point.
A couple of years later I noticed it being sold at The Bay so naturally I purchased even more products! I bought the “It’s a Slice” body lotion which smells like a dreamy orange creamsicle that one can’t get enough of, as well as some products in the “Satin Sugar” scent.
Only a few months later my mom asked me “Joanna, have you ever heard of a line called “Cake?”
When I told her yes, she excitedly told me that the daughter of a lady she had recently met, was the founder of the brand. She said that her daughter had started small and would leave handwritten notes with the products she would drop off at various companies .
Fast forward to 2015 and Cake beauty products are still sold on the shelves of reputable establishments everywhere. I often browse their section of goodies when I walk into Sephora as I can never get enough of their delicious scents. They also strive to include good, healthy ingredients in everything they make.
Maybe I do not really enjoy baking, or even eating actual cake…but I do love smelling like one!
