STYLE FIX: What to Wear for a Lunch Time Wedding

Following in the heels of my first “Beauty Fix” post I decided to try out “Style Fix” posts too! As I’m sure many of you are, I’m always looking for advice and I often turn to some stylish blogger friends for help so I thought it would be great to gather their thoughts and put it into one big post 🙂

“Dressing for a wedding can be stressful, especially if you don’t have an abundance of dresses in your closet like I do. Even though I have a dress for pretty much every possible situation (I have a slight problem), I still need to spend time deciding which one fits for the occasion. When I’m dressing for a summer wedding, I always keep three C’s in mind: COMFORT, CUT and COLOUR. Nothing too heavy or tight, nothing too short or revealing and NO WHITE (unless the bride asks her guests to wear white).

For a day time summer wedding, I would even go a little more demure than a night time wedding. It’s still a party and there may be dancing, but it may not be AS “party time” as a night wedding. I would wear this dainty floral dress with a fitted bodice and a full skirt to a day time wedding – it’s comfortable, ladylike and the perfect pattern/palette for an sunny outdoor wedding. I went with the wedge sandal because I love heels but this pair isn’t going to make holes in the garden if it’s an outdoor ceremony. Don’t forget the sunglasses and sunscreen ladies!

“Styling yourself for a lunch wedding reception is a breeze because you can easily dress up a day look you already feel confident in with a few statement accessories to make it occasion appropriate. I’d choose a demure dress in a cheery hue and flattering silhouette or pull together simple separates and then pair with a single bold piece of jewelry and eye-catching peep toe pumps or strappy heels. 

Tip: Be sure to check the invitation for venue details. A pashmina or blazer may be in order if you’re in a banquet hall or restaurant where the air conditioning might be on full blast. If you’re celebrating outdoors keep your clutch stocked with tissues for blotting and perhaps a sweet little fan to generate a cool breeze.“

Last but most definitely not least I asked Iva Grbesic of One Chic Mom a fabulous blog that dispels all the myths that moms can’t be fashionable. As a mom of four I have no idea how she does it but she does it all with style!
