This weekend I will be heading out for a much needed weekend getaway at Viamede Resort which is having their grand re-opening!
Yes…I know it’s Mother’s Day weekend! Normally I would be spending it with our moms but my mom is in Florida and my mother in law seemed more excited to babysit our cat Baxter than to spend time with us so I think it will be ok 
Located about 2 hours North of the city Viamede Resort is rich in history dating back to 1885. I can’t wait to learn more about it. While it’s probably too cold to enjoy the water at this time of year, I can see from the website photos it would be an excellent place for the whole family. It’s pet friendly too! I would have LOVED to bring Baxter along for the weekend but I’m not sure how he would fair with a 2 hour trek in the car and I’d be afraid he wanted to mark his territory there – ewww…!
The resort looks so charming, relaxing and peaceful. It looks like it could be the perfect getaway from the city without having to drive too far or having to hop on a plane.
Bonus: it kind of reminds me of the resort featured in Dirty Dancing

Elaine, you deserve a weekend away…I have seen that resort on Restaurant Makeover about 5 years ago. I will be very interested in hearing your “review”. Have a great time!
