BEAUTY ROUNDUP: Perfect Brows

Posted on January 3, 2013 by Elaine
Beautysets - Tools for the Perfect Brows
I’ve been told that I have nice eye brows 😛 I guess the shape is ideal – I’ve never really plucked them to shape them but I do tweeze strays! But lately I’ve been feeling like they fade into the background so I’ve been experimenting with filling them in.
First, you do need to figure out your ideal shape. You guys may already know how to find the best shape for your eyebrows (then how to tweeze) but if not Arianne did a great post with step by step instructions here. I usually use an eyeliner or makeup brush to help me figure out where my brows should line up with my eyes.
The next step is tweezing and trimming. I have really long eyebrow hairs so I sometimes need to trim. I was introduced to a brand of tools called ArteStile and I really love the weight of their tweezers and the precision of their scissors. Yes they are nail scissors but they work great to trim my overgrown brows!
Once the brows are all trimmed and tweezed I brush the brows into place with an eyebrow brush. I use the brow/lash comb from Royal and Langnickel but you can use an old clean mascara brush too.
When I’m happy with the shape I then start to fill them. I’m really loving Aqua brow from Make Up For Ever. When I first saw it I was really intimidated, I thought I would make a total mess of my brows because you need so little!

This is even way too much! Look what happens when I spread it out:

So remember, just take a TINY bit and use a small angled brush like the one from bdellium tools to pick up some product and be sure to wipe off the excess on the back of your hand. Better to use too little than too much! Then fill in your brows completely with short quick strokes going in the direction of the way the hair grows. You can also dip the angled brush into a dark (matte!) eyeshadow but I like that the Aquabrow is waterproof. If you’re good with an eyebrow pencil that will work too using short strokes but I was never able to make this look natural.

So there’s my technique for the ‘perfect’ brows. I should let you know that I RARELY have the time to do my brows LOL! This is only  done on the weekends (er…sometimes…).
Got any brow tips to share?

Someone on Twitter suggested using the same product you mentioned to fill my brows. If you like it, well that’s two people who like it so I’m curious now.

What product does Elf has – it is a pencil? Oh yes clear mascara forgot about that! If the Aqua Brow wasn’t water proof I would use clear mascara to “seal”.

That looks awesome! So true that eyebrows defines the face. Elf has something to define the eyebrows. My eyebrows kinda droop down as the day goes by (I pull out the strays and never shape it). But after using that, it stays put the whole day. It also has clear mascara the other end and has now become my fav product.
