ON SCENE: Unilever Media Preview

Posted on December 28, 2012 by Elaine
Thank you once again to Oliva for attending the Unilever Canada media preview for me! She’s been doing me so many favors for the blog I think she should be a regular contributor 😉 Here’s her take on the event.

A few weeks ago I attended the Unilever Canadamedia preview of beauty and grooming products innovations for 2013.  It was a great event that started with a beauty panel consisting of Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine from TheBeautyDepartment.com and George Kotsiopoulos, co-host of Fashion Police for E! Entertainment.

They shared a wealth of simple everyday beauty tips such as starting your winter skin care in August, emphasizing/playing up your natural skin tone, and making sure to take care of your skin regardless of the season (i.e. not applying lotion regularly to your legs just because they’re tucked away in the winter — guilty of this!).

After the panel and Q & A the guests were invited to visit the individual product booths. I did not know that Unilever had so many brands under their umbrella. I revisited products that I’ve used in the past such as Dove, St. Ives, Vaseline and TRESemmé to find out more about new launches for the new year.

I also got the chance to learn about and test product innovations from Nexxus where Kevin Mancuso gave a demo on the hair models.

I also had a strand of my hair analyzed at the Clear booth and Dr. Poonam Rajan gave me a quick skin analysis and recommended products from the Simple line.

Sandy Gold was also on-site giving quick and easy makeup tips. I am clumsy when it comes to applying liquid liner so she showed me a really easy way on applying liner with a q-tip. Simply apply a few dots of gel or liquid liner close to your lash line then connect the dots.  Easy and not messy!

Not to be left behind, Unilever also had a whole section dedicated to the men with great products such as Clear Men Scalp Therapy, Dove Degree, and Vaseline for Men.  Overall it was a great event that was fun and informative. I got to re-visit tried and true product favourites and discovered new ones!

There are many of great products coming out next year from Unilever so stay tuned to hear all about them!

Special thanks to Rosedale Livery for the car service.

It was Olvia that went for me – I couldn’t attend as the event was during the day 🙁 Is it bad that I don’t know who she is?

You got to hear Amy Nadine speak on a panel? Lucky you! She’s my favorite makeup artist next to Stephanie =)

I love St. Ives lotion, it’s so great for my skin in the winter.
