Beauty Look: Kiss Lashes

Posted on September 17, 2014December 14, 2014 by Elaine

I’m really not the best at applying my makeup – I stick to what I’m comfortable with. False lashes are DEFINITELY something I struggle with – there’s no way they could become part of my daily routine!

I was introduced to Kiss Ever EZ lashes recently so I thought I would give them a shot.

These lashes are pretty lightweight and easy to handle. If you’re not a regular to wearing false lashes you will find they take a little getting used to. The first step to remove the lashes and hold them up to your own eye to make sure it fits. If it doesn’t, simply cut a few lashes off the outer corners. The Kiss Ever EZ Lashes didn’t come with a lash adhesive though you could pick it up separately. Luckily I happened to have on hand Duo Lash adhesive which I received from the Shoppers Drug Mart TIFF Suite.

I love that the Kiss lashes comes with an applicator which are essentially plastic tweezers. I have seen tutorials where people will use regular tweezers to apply false lashes but to be honest that kind of freaks me out – putting something pointy and metal so close to my eyeballs when I’m not skilled to begin with just seems wrong! It took me a little while to figure out the most comfortable way to hold the applicator but I found it very helpful when handling the lashes.

I LOVED how they looked on – they looked pretty natural in my opinion – they didn’t scream “hey look my lashes are fake!”. I’m not going to lie – I think it took me a good 45 minutes to get these to stick 😛 I obviously need more practice! I had trouble getting the lash strip to stick to the inner corners of my eyes. Not sure if this was the right technique, but I added a bit of extra glue with a q-tip then just held it in place.

Some tips for applying lashes:

1. don’t apply the glue directly – I added a bit of glue to a mirrored mixing palette that makeup artists use – you could also just use the back of your hand!

2. hold the lashes with the applicator and dip the lash strip into the glue making sure the whole strip is covered

3. wait about 30 seconds or so for the glue to get “tacky” before applying to your lash line on top of your own lashes

4. practice, practice practice! Don’t wait for that special occasion to put these on for the first time!

I kept the rest of my makeup super simple – details of the look are featured here!

What are your thoughts on false lashes? Love them, hate them? Want to try them out?

Beautiful! I share the same problem, I can never seem to get the lashes to stick on the inner corner of my eyes. Even professionals can’t get them to stay!

These look super natural on you, I would never guess they were false lashes!

No way! I wonder if it’s the shape of our eyes or something – weird! Thanks – try them out for fun – your lashes are already pretty though but they would POP with falsies!
