Loving my new hair thanks to Salon Escape {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Posted on August 14, 2012March 30, 2020 by Elaine

I get bored with my hair – I really, really do! I had it chopped off in November and now I want to grow it – not because I don’t like it short – just bored – and I miss being able to put it up in a nice up do even though I hardly ever did that.

I’m also constantly changing my hair colour too – nothing TOO drastic I would say but nothing “boring” either. I jumped at the chance to check out a salon that I hadn’t heard of (shame on me!) Salon Escape in the heart of Yorkville.

logo

The location of this place is fantastic – it’s located on Cumberland right across the Bay station subway entrance and surrounded by great shops and restaurants.

When I entered the salon it was PACKED! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. As I was there I was eavesdropping and many of the clients are regulars chit chatting with their stylists like they were old friends.

IMG_1242

My stylist was Maryia. She was great – I could tell she was talented from the start since during our consult she showed me where the parts of my hair were going crazy and exactly her thoughts on cleaning it up. My embarrassing roots lead her to give me two options – go for one overall colour that would be rich and shiny or we could go for something interesting – kind of an ombre effect (I should tell you that I’m not a fan of this trend – it always just looks like really out grown roots to me – I don’t get it!) but more blended – yet still looking obvious – not like my hair was growing out.

IMG_1243
^Here’s my pathetic before shot LOL – ack see the roots???^
IMG_1244

and the after!  I apologize that the pictures are so small – I honestly look so terribly tired in these photos it’s so embarrassing!

IMG_1335

I also wanted to show how it looks curly. I love the shape of it and I don’t know if you can tell but the colour is subtly darker at the top and gets brighter towards the bottom without it looking like my roots are growing in! Love that!
Would I go back to this salon? Definitely! I would probably book on a weekend morning though – going to a salon right after work and staying for 3 hours is a bit much for me now. As well, since the salon is located so close to the subway station I would suggest either TTC-ing it or parking outside of Yorkville.  3.5 hours of parking cost me a ridiculous $19.50!!!
So if you’re looking for a salon in Yorkville definitely check out Salon Escape. And…guess what? Salon Escape is generously sponsoring a great giveaway for my readers!
You can win this fabulous gift basket full of Redken products to suite your specific hair type and lifestyle + complimentary blow dry and style! Obviously you have to be able to get to the salon to claim this prize so please keep that in mind before entering! Also, please note that you’ll have 2 weeks to claim your prize after the winner is announced! Again, please keep that in mind when you enter 🙂

I get bored easily as well. However, given my busy lifestyle, I can’t afford to drastically change it. That is why I have it long and straight. Short hair and colouring it is way too much work.

Love the curls and the colour, Elaine! I hate to admit it but I’m pretty boring when it comes to my hair. I pretty much rock the same style all the time. I might get a bit crazy and add some metallic highlights to my hair around Christmas, but that’s about it 😉

I guess I get pretty bored with my hair, too. I’m thinking about cutting it short again, but then I get ‘grass is always greener’ syndrome and yearn for my long hair again. Maybe I should just change up the products and get a good blowout! 🙂
