Lipstick Love: L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick

Posted on July 26, 2012March 30, 2020 by Elaine
I have A LOT of lipsticks but I don’t wear very many (is anyone else guilty of that?). I do like to experiment with colours but I find on most days it’s just easiest to grab the same neutral lipstick or gloss and be out the door. On my vacation in Florida I decided to test drive the new L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick and wear a different one everyday.
My initial thought was to photograph myself wearing each colour as proof – but – since I’m self consious about my skin a close up shot of my lips was quickly nixed! So you’ll just have to believe me when I say I tried every single one of these colours out.  And I loved all of them but one – and not for any fault of its own, the colour just didn’t suit me.

Rose Taffeta // Velvet Fushia // Sunset Angora // Blushing Sequin //
Cherry Tulle //Pink Cashmere // Violet Chiffon
The texture of this lipstick is what I love most. It’s sheer but definitely gives off a good amount of colour (I hate when I try on a sheer formula and my lips look the same!) and it goes on so smoothly.
Here are swatches on my hand in the same order as above (go top left to right then bottom left to right)

My favorite of the bunch were Cherry Tulle and Violet Chiffon. They were nice and vibrant on their own without being too overpowering. I’m all for a bold lipstick but I also think that you need to have pretty flawless skin to pull off the bold lip look – and so I’ve been shying away from bolder colours. The only colour that looked terrible on me was Sunset Angora. I have yet to find a coral/orange based colour that looks good on me.
What’s your favorite texture of lipstick? Share with me in the comments!

I think you’ll love them too Tracy – I’d be curious as to which colour you liked best!

They ARE! That’s why I love them – I do like a bold creamy lip but most days it’s not something I can pull off – these are perfect!

These look so pretty, Elaine! I have been getting into lipstick a little more lately, and I’m thinking I’ll give these a try. Thanks for the review!

I’ve heard such amazing things about these lipsticks. The shades look so wearable, too!
