I was lucky enough to attend an introduction to Miraj Hammam Toronto Spa by Caudalie Paris, which will be located at the elite Shangri-La hotel.

The introductory buffet and cocktails were held at one of Toronto’s most gorgeous restaurants – the Sultan’s Tent on Front Street. As it was my first time at the restaurant, I didn’t know what to expect, but any and all expectations I had were blown away. The beauty and striking décor of the restaurant were breath taking, and fit in perfectly with the Miraj Hammam’s ideologies and philosophies.
The Sultan’s Tent is a dim-lit restaurant that has incorporated many of the traditions and culture found in Morocco. The lights that donned the entire restaurant were actually bought from a Moroccan palace! The structural arches of the building helped created individualized curtains and sitting areas that let restaurateurs have their own secluded Moroccan experience. The aroma of the spices filled the entire restaurant. Needless to say, the owner, Angela, has done a remarkable job with incorporating the mystery and beauty of Morocco into a little slice on Front Street

The event itself was hosted by Surinder Bains, the owner of the first Hammamm spa in all of Canada, currently located in Vancouver, Canada. She used her expertise to help develop a Toronto version of her incredibly popular Vancouver Spa. With a projected opening of Auguust, 2012, the Miraj Hammam Spa plans to incorporate the views of Middle Eastern cleanliness and exfloliation into Toronto’s diverse spa life.
Surinder promises that the experience will be one of a kind, and from her explanation, I can certainly understand how. The Hammam offers an almost private and sensual experience – gone are the clinical nature of many spas found today. Guests are invited to sip on special and personalized tea of their choice, while relaxing in a steam room. Every guest is guaranteed his or her own private amenities with their own personal staff member. From then, the guest will be treated to his or her own personalized experience – whether it’s full-body massage or full-out Gommage (full-body exfoliation). The experience is all contained in Middle-Eastern amenities and will actually allow the guest to transport themselves outside of their day-to-day lives.
Offered at the spa will be products created by Amal Moroccan and Pure Attar Luxurious Oils. The products are “carefully handcrafted and bring to life Old World Beauty”, states Jennifer Pedraza from Pure Attar. Products influenced by the cultures of North Africa, India, and the Middle East, it is a perfect match to the experience provided at Miraj Hammam Spas by Caudalie Paris. Event goers were lucky enough to be treated to a sample!

The end of the night was honoured with traditional belly dancing, provided by the Sultan’s Tent.
It was a pleasure to be invited to such an event, and I hope everyone checks out this luxurious Toronto spa when it opens. There is literally nothing like this within the city, and the type of service you will get for your money is unmatched. Enjoy Miraj Hammam Spa when it opens, it’s something you’ll never regret.
