I’m always interested in skin regimes – I find the difference among woman’s skin types absolutely fascinating. What works for one seldom work for another. What works for one skin type, aggravates another. What one deems a staple in their skin care routine, others balk at.
Specifically, I’m always interested in the ‘staples’ woman have in their skin care routines – what products do you use religiously? What products would you recommend to other woman? What products have never let you down?
So, with my many years of experimenting with skin care products, here are my tried, tested, and true skincare staples in my daily routine. See anything you agree with?
Moisturizer

This night cream is fantastic. But better yet, this night cream is an even better day cream. Yes, you heard me – I use night cream as a day cream, day in and day out. The great thing about this specific cream is that it is light enough to wear during the day – it doesn’t have the incredibly thick texture as other night creams tend to have, and it provides the maximum amount of mositurization in the smallest dollop. The hydration within this cream is extraordinary – it was the primary reason why I started using it as a day cream. I wasn’t getting the amount of mosturization I wanted in a day cream, and as soon as I found this one, I was sold. The cream is hypoallergenic, free of perfumes, light, and airy. You’ll see instant results in the hydration of your skin, guaranteed.
Downside of using a night cream during the day – no SPF benefits.
Make-Up Remover
Neutrogena’s MakeUp Remover Cleansing Towelettes – $8.99 – $10.99
Another Neutrogena product – sensing a pattern? These towelettes are a godsend. They remove absolutely every molecule of makeup on your face in just a few swipes. The fragrance is minimal, at best, and the makeup remover itself doesn’t come off as oily on your face. I’ve been using these towelettes since high school, that’s how loyal I am to them.
Cleanser
Cleanser is important – it buffs off all the dead surface skin and helps keep an acne-free complexion. This is the area in which I’ve experimented the most. If it’s been made, I’ve tried it. From Aveeno to Neutrogena, from Olay to Philosophy, I’ve dabbled in them all. Thus, I have two choices for best cleanser, depending on the mood / irritability of my skin.

Garnier’s Pure 3 in 1 Cleanser – $5.99 – $7.99
I love this product just because of the range of benefits it produces. The scrub can work as a daily scrub and / or weekly clay mask. I found when using in the shower, a small amount was best, as a little goes a long way – the consistency of this product is THICK. This 3 in 1 contains Salicylic Acid – just enough to maintain and prevent acne breakouts. When used as a mask, the product dries into clay, and really works to bring down the redness and size of already formed acne.
Day-to-Day Cleanser
Noxzema’s Original Deep Cleanser – $3.99 and up

I feel like I don’t even have to explain this one. This product has been a staple in almost everyone’s makeup bag at some point in his or her life. This is the product I use when I want a guarantee that my skin will be refreshed and moisturized. This is the product I use when I want a guarantee my skin won’t react negatively. This is the product I use when my skin burns after an eyebrow waxing (good lord, it works). This stuff doesn’t quit. It’s been a staple in my mother’s makeup routine for years, and her skin is constantly smooth and blemish free. If the refreshing smell and pleasant tingly feeling aren’t enough, the price is definitely a bonus.
Spot Corrector
ProActiv’s Refining Mask – $15.00 – $20.00 (when sold individually)

Another long-term staple. In terms of ProActiv, this is the only product of theirs that actually worked for me. It actively and noticeably reduces the size of present acne. It also actively reduces the redness of these acne marks. The container is deceptively small, but you really don’t need a lot of product to get the job done. Dab a little on your problem areas and I can say that you’ll definitely see a difference.

Wow great list of products! I’ve of course tried the Noxema cream probably when it was called “cold cream”? But that was way back in high school – I wonder if I should give it another shot? And I’ve used the ProActiv mask and several people I know swear by it too – they put it on a pimple overnight and by morning it’s minimized!
I’m late (just returned from a trip), but I SWEAR by the night cream now. I don’t go anywhere without it. Just make sure you definitely cover up with some SPF, because obviously you’ll get nothing from the night cream.
Start with a light one – some night creams can be thick! Let me know how it goes!
