Product: Make Up For Ever Professional’s ‘Pastel Perfect’ Eye Shadow collection
  • ·      Lemon Shimmer
  • ·      Chartreuse Sheen
  • ·      Cotton Candy
  • ·      Lilac Matte

Color Flash - Pastel Perfect - Spring 2012-1

What it Claims: “…add subtle pops of colour; a way to make colour more wearable”
Price: Generally run between $19.00 – $22.00 (Canadian)
First Impressions: Holy pastels! I may have underestimated how pigmented and light coloured these shadows are, but they are genuinely gorgeous. Make Up For Ever always puts their best into their makeup (hence, their fabulous reputation), I would expect no difference here.

MakeUp Forever Pastels Cropped
L to R: Chartreuse Sheen, Lemon Shimmer, Lilac Matte, Cotton Candy

Usage: They weren’t kidding when they said pastels. The colours are bright, vibrant, and light. The yellow is a soft, but vividly pale; the green is a bit darker in nature; the purple is light and more of a lilac shade; and the pink is flushed and can double as a blush! Convenient!

Review: I’m not going to lie here – the colours turned out to be way to pastel-based for my own nature. As I’ve said before, my skin is naturally very pale. The slightest hint of colour can make certain facial features stand out. This is good when dealing with neutral-based colours, but unfortunately, I’ve come to learn that pastel colours have no place in my make-up routine. That being said, Make Up For Ever has provided gorgeous colours for a new spring / summer look, and these colours would look gorgeous on anyone else. With the summer fast approaching, these colours would fair well with a nice-summery glow.

Try them out and let me know what you think! Did you manage any better than me?

Wow these colours look gorgeous in the pan. Too bad they didn’t work out for you Ash 🙁
I think pastels can be REALLY hard to pull off for anyone! If you’re a fan of pastel eye shadows please share in the comments!

Thanks girls! That’s kinda what I was thinking. I’ll have to do some experimenting!

Ditto! You can always try and experiment, that’s what make-up is for! But in my case, my super pale skin (Elaine is definitely not lying) didn’t suit the colours.

    Best of luck!

Such pretty colours! Not sure if I could pull of pastels on my fair skin or not?
