As you may know I’m having skin issues so it’s very sensitive at the moment and I unfortunately can’t try out many new products. Thankfully Ashley has come on board and agreed to help me review some skin care products! Here’s her first one.
*****
Product: Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub
What it Claims: “…designed to lift away pore-clogging dirt and oil; gently remove dull, lifeless surface cells; prevent breakouts and blackheads…”
Price: $9.99 (Canadian)
First Impressions: Bioré has always been a nationwide leader in the skincare industry – from its industry inventive ‘pore-strips’ to it’s new customized skincare line. Expectations were strong with this product, Bioré rarely disappoints.
Texture: The product itself is a very thick and creamy micro bead-based wash – you won’t need a lot of this product to get the job done. A little goes a long way with this scrub. Think ‘paste-like’.
Smell: If you’re like me, the smell of your face wash is EXTREMELY important. If your face wash smells medicinal or chemical based in nature, the last place you want to put it is anywhere near your face (I’m looking at you certain Olay and SpectroJel products). The face wash initially smelled a little like menthol – and upon reading the ingredients, I realized that menthol was actually an ingredient included. If you’re unfamiliar with menthol, think ‘RUB-A535.’ It wasn’t enough to be wary of the product though, thankfully.
Usage: Scrub onto your face. As said above, a little goes a LONG way. If you’re lucky enough to have an in-shower cleansing system (i.e. Neutrogena WAVE, Olay PRO-X), then use it. It’s definitely beneficial here, and you will see a difference immediately.
Review: Great product, and even better exfoliator! If you have occasional dry skin, like myself, I would recommend this product to you in a heartbeat. The menthol in the wash itself provides a cooling sensation upon usage, so definitely apply liberally. Because of said sensation, I would recommend using this product ONLY 2-3 times per week – any more than that and you might be aggravating the delicate nature of your skin! If you’ve got extremely sensitive skin, break into this product lightly. The thick texture of the product and the micro beads really slough away all the dead, dull, and lifeless skin on your face – so much so, that I went without foundation the first day of use! My skin was radiant, bright, moisturized and clear. Upon further use, I would have to say I have no complaints.
Happy using!
***Disclosure: Product was sent for review consideration***
So funny, I actually LOVE the smell of menthol, so this would definitely be a plus for me, I find it a very soothing scent :). Thanks for the great review Ashley, so impressed that you felt you didn’t need to wear makeup the next day (not that your skin isn’t amazing to begin with).
I currently use cetaphil, and I love it..would definitely keep this product in mind & would tell my friends about it..thanks for the lovely review!

Thanks for the review, Elaine. I’ve used St. Ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin for years and it works wonderfully on my skin. I’m always open to trying new products. Will keep this in mind for future reference! I bet you’re ready for your vacation, aren’t you ? =)
This sounds great!!
I have to try this!
