My husband’s work Christmas party was on Friday and I wasn’t sure what to wear. I usually put more thought into my outfit but I have seriously been so super busy I’ve been taking it day by day!
I put it out on twitter “red, white or navy”. I had 4 votes for red, 1 vote for white and 1 vote for navy. So red it was and my intent was to wear the dress I posted last year here. (OMG seeing that old post and looking in the mirror today makes me think I need sleep BIG TIME!!!) BUT, I realized that the dress was kind of body hugging and since it was a dinner party I was attending there was no way I could enjoy the food in that dress LOL! Priorities, you know?
So I ended up wearing my white lace crochet Ann Taylor Dress that I showed you here. I was totally inspired by Cee of To Brighten My Day – in fact I practically copied her outfit! Oh man, now that I’m seeing her pictures I even had a similar necklace on LOL!!! Sorry Cee, didn’t mean to be such a copy cat! Ok, here’s the same outfit on me

Great choice, this dress looks beautiful on you! I love lace anything but for the holidays in particular they are awesome. Your hair is beautiful in these photos too, hope you had a great time. I am not attending any holiday parties this year, rather sleep in instead
I think white lace is perfect for the holidays! The brooch was a great addition.
Haha, I definitely agree with your priorities! You look beautiful in both the red dress from last year and this lace dress!
This is a gorgeous look! I love the dress, and the blazer is a great addition for a work party. xx
Eating is just as fun! =P I need some lacey dresses like yours. I’ve been following your blog so come check mine out too: http://littlepiecefnb.blogspot.com
Our corporate holiday party this year was cancelled, we had just announced layoffs so it was a part gesture to hold a grandeur event thereafter. I like how you re-styled the lace dress, very festive! I also looked at photos of myself now and 8 months ago when I started this blog. Elaine, I feel like I’ve aged 5 years…so I know the feeling…more sleep.
Lol! The trick is to ask for two pictures “just in case you blink” :p
You look so pretty! We love that dress!! You can never go wrong with Ann Taylor. The brooch is that little added bling to tie it all together!!
Just found your blog & we’re now following. We would absolutely love for you to visit our blog too. Be sure to enter our Hello Kitty giveaway going on now…it’s valued at over $125! Great for yourself or a friend!!

Despite the tweet-votes, I think you made the right choice with this “holiday winter white” dress. The first picture is great despite any anxiety you may have been having with people walking by : ) Happy holidays, Elaine!
thats great! yeah, its about time AT came to Toronto don’t you think? Topshop and Jcrew are all here, great that fellow bloggers would support each other like that cross border <3

Oooh I love that dress Michelle, and the AT booties sound so cute! Man I know isn’t is such a pain when you’re out and about and ask people to take your picture? Rarely do you get a blog post worthy picture out of it. Those pictures are great for facebook and sharing with friends but not for posting
And you can’t really say “oh no, you didn’t take the picture right, get ALL OF ME in it” hahahaha! I’m most comfortable with my self timer. Even with my husband in public I don’t want to say “take another one” it sounds so vain LOL!
LOL – well it was a night of eating that’s for sure!
No dancing unfortunately but this dress is definitely comfortable enough to move around in!
Thank you Louise! I wasn’t sure if the red would throw everything off but I kind of wanted SOME festive colour to break up the black/white thing
Thanks Charlene!!!
Heeee – so I should make it 2 votes for white then?
Thanks Lisa! And thanks for stopping by the blog
Thank you Tara!!
Hahahah! I get a food baby almost immediately
Unfortunately no AT in Toronto
It IS a pain to go cross border. Kileen of Cute and Little knew I was looking for this dress and she managed to find it for me on sale and she shipped it over for me! Bloggers can be a great resource for buying things from especially for us Canadians – duties and shipping are usually crazy and some place like AT don’t even ship to us at all!
Thanks Kathy
Thank you Elle! I break out that brooch only once a year LOL!
Thanks Heather! Yeah, I never want to be too over the top. And it’s a work party too, don’t want to wear anything too tight or revealing
Thanks Olyvia
Cee is always amazing for outfit inspiration – perhaps I took this one a bit too far LOL but hey, I’m not very creative on my own
You look great! I love the silver/bright accents like the brooch!
Hope you had a fun time! I did not really get any good pictures of my Christmas party outfit for work. My husband was not with me, so I tried asking a coworker to take a picture of me and another coworker (so I would not sound weird saying, take a full body shot of me!) Although I asked for the whole outfit in the pic, it did not work out so well. :/
So basically, I wore this dress:

with the same necklace, sweater (but black), and tights. I added a chunky suede high-waist belt and some new AT booties (to be posted soon).
You look like you are ready for some fun and dancing! Love the red belt to add some color and pretty necklace!
You look so pretty!! Great outfit, love the red belt against the lace dress.
such a great outfit!! you look great!
Soo lovely. If I had seen that tweet, I would’ve voted white too
Cute dress.
Great choice! The dress is super gorgeous on you!
You look lovely! I thought I was the only one whose tummy you can see and make out if I have eaten or not
I love the dress, do you know where I could find Ann Taylor in Toronto? Its such a hassle go cross the border.
