Blush Pretty Eye on the Prize Workshop

Posted on October 30, 2011 by Elaine

Recently I was able to attend two of the Blush Pretty workshops that I told you about in this post.

I attended “Eye On The Prize” where we learned how to do a day look, a winged liner look and a smoky eye look.  I didn’t take any pictures of this event since it was a full session and none of the other ladies in attendance were bloggers – I didn’t want them to feel strange with me taking pictures of them all night!

Make up expert Kerri (apotheKerri) led the “Eye On The Prize” session and I learned quite a few tips and tricks from her.  Here are two stand outs for me.

  • Use my angled brush as a crease brush

Say what??  Yup, you read that correctly!  It makes for a more precise placement of the eyeshadow and this worked particularly well for me since usually when I use a darker shadow in my crease I have to be really careful not to apply the eye shadow too high or else I kind of look “surprised” all the time as Kerri put it.

  • An angled brush also gives you the perfect “cat eye flip”

This one definitely required a lot of practice. I did my first eye (right eye) perfectly.  The left eye not so much 😛 Using a cream or gel eyeliner offers more versatility.

Stephanie of Blush Pretty also agrees that a slanted brush is a must have and is very versatile.

The brush that I use is from ecotools – I picked this one up while in Florida at Target but you can get them at Walmart too.

Good news – new workshops were just announced!  I missed out on the “prep, prime and conceal” workshop so I’m so happy it’s being offered again!

See the full schedule here and learn some new beauty skills along with me!

I’ve been told that angled brush tip about cat eyeliner again and again. …I guess I really need to go out and get one.

I def. need to attend a similiar workshop. I love the wing linger but can never get it right. Actually scratch that – I can’t really do any liner right at all, I’m a klutz when it comes to make-up. Hopefully when Lil’C gets older and perfects it she can show me 😉

Oh man, it takes a lot of practice. There was a point when I thought I had it perfected then I stopped doing it for another look and now I don’t know how to do it LOL!

Thanks for the positive review! Glad you learned a thing or two, and remember – it just washes off.

Are you taking Prep Prime and Conceal this Thursday? If so, it’s being taught by yours truly!

And M, if you want to take Eye on The Prize, I’m teaching that on Monday Nov 7th!

Ahhh good for you! I know I used to experiment all the time with makeup when I was in high school then I think I just got stuck in a rut of applying my makeup the same way and now I’m learning all over again! Love it!

Applying make up takes practice, but having the right tools and techniques make all the difference. We discovered using the slanted brush to use in the crease by accident! Its fun to experiment though 🙂
