Shorts and a Blazer

Posted on August 18, 2011November 23, 2014 by Elaine

I have been seeing girls rocking shorts and a blazer all summer long.  I love how shorts keep you cool and are really casual and a blazer can just dress it up!  Heels make it even more fancy and flats are perfect for brunch or shopping!

Blazer: H&M
Blouse:  LOFT
Shorts: Banana Republic Factory
Shoes: Browns

I am NOT a shorts girl.  Before the pair I’m wearing here I only owned one other pair (I now have 3 pairs total 😛 ).  I find that shorts are usually a strange length.  Either kind of too long or they are really short for my liking.  I also think that most shorts make my legs look stumpy since I don’t have long lean legs (my legs are kind of the same shape all around) – they always tend to cut me off in the wrong spot.

Of course my favorite blouse that I wear over and over again – thanks again to Jean of Extra Petite!

Do you like the shorts and a blazer look?

I know this one is a really casual take on it, maybe someone can invite me somewhere fun so I can dress it up a bit?  😉

What a CUTE outfit and professional enough to wear to work. It’s nice to see tailored shorts as an alternative to dress pants and skirts.

    XOXO

I think you lo great in those shorts (I’m on the market for some loose paper bag shorts myself). I’ve only recently tried out the shorts and blazer look and I love it. I think it works especially well with a cropped blazer.

I’ve been meaning to get in on this trend too! Hopefully I will hop to it before fall comes along…but, by then, I guess I can try tights under shorts? Hahaha. I love that blazer on you, and those shorts look to be a good length!

I’m definitely a fan of the shorts and blazer look, especially with a great blouse like that! I have yet to try it myself, but totally will even in the fall with some black tights 🙂 happy friday xo

@Make Mommy Chic Ahhh Sharon you’re always so sweet! I hope you found some great blazers! Can’t beat H&M prices 😉

@JenOh yes I can see Tiffany rocking this look! Thanks Jen!

@newpetite Oooh great idea!! Thanks so much for the suggestion!

@KatHeee glad I’m not the only one with only 3 pairs of shorts!

@Steph Thanks Steph! I know I love the colours too!

@The Little Dust Princess Awww thanks Jess, I’ve been avoiding shorts for years! Yeah the blazer was only really thrown on in over air conditioned malls and restaurants!

@Style JourneyI just love your remixes, you guys are so creative!

@TaraMixandMatch It’s true, sometimes a skirt just doesn’t cut it (particularly on windy days 😛 ) so shorts are the only alternative to keeping cool!

@D.Sadie Thanks! Oh I’m a blazer hoard, they just go with everything!

@Naghmeh Thanks so much! I know it’s pretty conservative but this is so not my style (the shorts) 😉

@A Fine Balance Heels that I can walk in that is 😉

@PetiteAsianGirlThis is the same H&M blazer without the back vents that you reviewed last year I think, remember? Thanks for the tips, true I should try it without the waist tie! LOL haven’t “sexay” night on the town for a long time 😛

I love the blazer-and-shorts look in general and your take on it is fantastic! It has a little more attitude than a blazer over a sundress. In your case, I find the floaty top and waist-tie shorts soften the look. Love those shoes too! PS: I own 3 shorts too!

Love the look! May be rolling the cuffs of the blazer might make it more casual?

This is a great look, I think it’s one of my sister’s favorites. Perfect for summer weather that gets cooler at night! Good to see another outfit post from you 🙂

Elaine, i am definitely loving this look. Did a bit of a gasp when I saw the pic 🙂 The blazer is such a great transitional piece, can be casual during the day for work, and then dressed up at night with a great dress and heels. H&M has some great deals on blazers, I think i will check it out on my lunch hour today. Thanks so much for the post 🙂

Love this! I always have the same problem with shorts, either too short or too long…but when its a million degrees out, you really don’t have a choice! The blouse looks fantastic on you, I can see why you love it so much!

I think you look amazing in shorts! The blazer looks really good on you. I think shorts & blazers look great together, but I’ve yet to sport it this summer. Way too hot!

I like the camel blazer on you. The drape looks nicer than typical H&M. And I’m so glad you still like your top. My floral blouse in a similar color scheme was one of my most worn purchases from LOFT as well.

I’m a fan of shorts and blazer combos. For another take, you could try sleek shorts maybe in one of the colors found in the top, possibly without details like a waist tie because the top is nice and ruffly. Add heels and you’d be ready for a sexay night on the town ; )
