Feeling Girly with Petals!

Posted on June 30, 2011 by Elaine

This will be a really quick post, I wanted to show off one of my new favorite tops 😉

Yet another top I was able to purchase through one of my US blogger friends Elle of Fast Food and Fast Fashion.  Elle has such a unique and girly sense of style, I get so much inspiration from her!

Unfortunately this outfit isn’t all that inspiring, but that’s what I really love about this top.  I don’t have to put too much effort into my outfit to make it unique since the top is so unique on its own – and not to mention super uber girly 😉

Top: Ann Taylor Factory Petal Front Shell XXSP
Cropped pants: Jacob size 1/2
Shoes: Nine West size 7
Head Band: Petit Plume (see my post here)

So far I’ve really only worn this top as is or with jeans.  Any other ideas on how I could style this?

Thank you again Elle, I’ve been admiring this top on so many bloggers I’m so glad I was able to purchase is through you 🙂

Check out how this top looks on  Elle (Fast Food and Fast Fashion), eek (eek!), Cee (To Brighten My Day) and Jean (Extra Petite).

I love a skirt that makes a statement on its own so I agree you don’t need much else to style it. However, the hair accessory in a similar tone is a really nice touch, especially that it’s kind of ‘far away’ from the top. Super pretty! – Kat

You have a little entourage of AT/LOFT personal shoppers in the US : ) I really wish they would open up shop in Canada! I think they’d do quite well there and I always feel bad that Canadian petites have no access to their stuff. I love love this cornflower blue color on you, and the top is a statement in yourself. Enjoy!

I love the color and details on you!!!!! I also have this top in lavender and wouldn’t you know that it will stretch to accommodate a baby bump? 😉 I think this would look lovely with a pleated skirt or pencil skirt!

I love the color and petal detail of your top! I think it would look equally great with a pencil skirt or lighter colored pants with a slim cut.

Loving that top on you. Such a great color for summer and the design is definitely unique. I’m sure that a few Torontonians have already stopped you on the street to ask where you got it right? That wouldn’t surprise me. Thanks for the post and HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

LOVE the blue color. I think it tones down the girliness of the shirt, while still being girly enough to look great 🙂

This top looks adorable on you, Elaine. I love how that color really compliments your skin tone. It looks like you have gotten a lot of great advice. Chloe also wore the same top here

@Beauty By Krystal Thanks Krystal, and thanks again for the awards <3 - if you haven't noticed I always get to posts so late so I hope I get to write about it soon!

@CallandraI can TOTALLY picture you in this top and ROCKING it! Thanks for the suggestion, I’m definitely going to try it out!!!

@CeeYes Cee in my head I was picturing it with the lace crochet skirt but at the same time I thought it would be TOO dressy for work 😛 but really what does it matter LOL! sheesh I WISH I could rock leather pants! I think I would be too uncomfortable though 😛

@Tiffany – I am Style-ishThanks Tiffany! good tip on the high waisted black skirt – I think I will need to put that item on my “must have” list! 😉

@Lilly’s StyleThanks Lilly, yes that seems to be the popular suggestion. Can’t wait to try it out 🙂

@nomoneylotsofstyleLOL!!!! errr yeah bottoms of some sort are definitely a must 😛

@LouiseThanks Louise, I definitely ave a lot of blazers so I’m going to give that a try 🙂

That’s such a pretty top – you look great! I think this would look great as the feminine touch under a suit jacket, and paired with trousers or a pencil skirt.

Add leggings and a blazer! Or tuck it into a skirt and put a blazer over it. Just wear a blazer (JK pants must be included)

omgsh Elaine, you look so cute! I love the petals of the top and the blue is so pretty on you. The headband is adorable too!

I say pair it with a high waisted black skirt, tuck the top in to let some of the petals fall over the waistband. I love textured tops with slim black skirts.

Cutttee! For an even girlier look, feminine skirts, like your new AT crochet one? 🙂 Or for edgier looks, skinny jeans/leather pants (?!) with some sky high heels.

@Elle Elle thank you so much again for letting me buy this from you, it’s definitely getting a lot rotation 😉 White pants would look great, I guess I have to find the right pair though (ie not see through!)

@Y Thank you, I appreciate your comment 🙂 It is really gorgeous isn’t it?

@TaraThanks Tara! Yeah I’m surprised you don’t have this, everything from AT and Loft looks amazing on you!

@Lisa – respect the shoes Thanks Lisa, I would love to be able to mix it up more like you though 🙂

@questforfashionsense Yes I’m totally going to try a pencil skirt next time!

@Mileide Almeida Thank you for your comment 🙂

@Melissa Thanks Mel, yay another pencil skirt suggestion, definitely will have to try it out.

@A Fine Balance I tweeted you already but in case other people are wondering AT doesn’t ship to Canada unfortunately so I’ve been lucky to be able to purchase Loft and AT items off of my US blogger friends 🙂

@Katherine Yes, feminine and soft are the perfect words for this top!

@Fashion and Number Whoa, a short bandage skirt would definitely look hot…not sure if I’m brave enough to go that route though 😉 Thank you so much for your comment such a sweet compliment! 🙂

Oh this looks so cute on you Elaine. I think you can also wear the top with a short mini black (maybe bandage) skirt and heels. Just found your blog and love it. 😉

The top is really cute and looks great on you! With a detailed top, I generally would go for more simple bottoms like you did. Maybe pencil skirts?

Elaine this top looks incredible on you!!! I agree that this top is very low maintenance and doesn’t require too much styling. I think white pants (summer woo!) would also look incredible with it on weekends. 🙂 I haven’t worn mine much but I think come fall I would wear it with a complete suit for work. 🙂
