Lady Like Cardigan

Posted on January 19, 2011December 21, 2014 by Elaine

I tried this sweater on MONTHS ago at H&M but I had already made a few purchases at that time so I left it behind in the stores.  Then later I saw this on Ping and it definitely stuck out in my mind.  I love how Ping styled it.  I’m not as creative as she is so I just threw it on with my favorite trouser jeans.

Cardigan:  H&M XS
Jeans:  Banana Republic size 0P (I found a similar pair here)
Necklace and Earrings:  Avon

I love the feminine details of this cardigan.  The little bows at the pocket area (no pockets!) and the buttons are really pretty too (kind of sparkly!).

For some reason I’ve also been fascinated with braiding my hair.   My bangs are starting to grow out so they’re at that awkward length where they kind of just get in my way.  I decided to try out the braiding thing:

What do you think?  Is it too juvenile?  I got some compliments (from those that noticed) and it definitely does the job of keeping my bangs out of my face.

So, I’m noticing that all my poses are pretty much the same 😛  Taking pictures is a lot of work for me and definitely does not come naturally!  I feel really silly posing a lot of the time so does anyone have any tips on posing?

Definitely like the hair . . . not juvenile at all! I’ve tried it myself, but still have some troubles, I end up just twisting it away which still looks pretty decent.

Love the girlish cardigan! I’ve seen a few like that at Forever 21 that I’ve wanted to pick up but have always feared that they would just fall apart after the first wear. The colour of this one is very pretty. How’s the quality? Does it stay in shape or does it stretch out with wear? One of my biggest pet peeves is when I scrunch up the sleeves just a TAD the bottom part gets all loose haha. How does this one fit?

I think that side braid would look especially cute if you put the rest of your hair in an updo!

Thanks for all the lovely comments! You are all totally making my day 🙂

@TLDP Thank you so much! I didn’t realize it came in other colours!

@cutiecocochanel – What?? you’re great at posing! I love your blog header – so glam!

@Lisa – thank you! Umm I know you’d think self braiding would be a skill us women would’ve picked up! So not easy! (sometimes I get the husband to do it for me…shhhh!)

@Stylepint – I have a large forehead too. Husband likes to call it “fivehead” LOL!

    @Michelle – hee! Ok I’m glad I pass 😛

@t, Kileen, Sharon, ReallyPetite – thank you 🙂 Making me blush here 😉

@Lor – that breade sounds so cool! I have so many layers in my hair so I can’t braid the whole thing, pieces always fall out!

@Melissa – you are totally not lame! You always look so cute 🙂

@PLG – when my hair is curly bobby pins hold the bangs up – curly bangs are so not attractive 😛

@Ping – oh no!!!! I will try to be extra careful with mine then. Damn H&M quality!

@AubreyOhDang – that’s a great idea. I actually saw this on a show last night, it wasn’t her bangs they braided just a piece on the side of her head. Loved it!

@Shen Dove – Chanel!! WOW, can’t go wrong with that, thank you!

@FashionMomma – good to know I’m not alone, thanks for the tips!

@SewPetiteGal – aww thank you! I’m so glad it all worked together for the most part 😉

@Tara – thanks! I really should wear more colourful things though, but I always gravitate to shade of grey!

@Cee – ooh I hope you take pictures if you attempt it!

    @CessOviedo – thank you! 🙂

@Kayla – yes I’m glad I went back for it too! I was lucky they’re still around!

@SharonLei and missstudios – thank you so much for your kind comments!

@Karena – oops I’m Elaine 🙂 Dara is the designer of the scarf I’m giving away 😉 But thank you!

@jamie-lee – you could totally braid your hair! Your hair is so nice and long 🙂

@Ania – thank you, thank you!

I LOVE this braided look on you. I saw so many celebs with braids over the summer and had been meaning to try, but just didn’t have the time. Now you’ve inspired me to try again! The bows on this cardi is too cute and goes well with the hair.

No tips on posing from me, I’m such a n00b!

I adore those little bows. I adore ALL bows, who am I kidding? Whenever I don’t “do” my hair, I try to add a little braid or twist in the bang area. It dresses things up a little for me! I’m also really awkward at taking photos, so no worries- I think we’re all still trying to find our niche with that. Some people are just naturals, though! I’ve been told, “Tilt your head slightly, do something with your arms where at least one arm is away from your trunk (ie: put hand on hip or rest arm on object), because this puts space between your arm and body and creates more shape. Turn to the side just a bit, sometimes.” Rochelle, of Rochelle Approved, is my good friend and also a photographer. I have a unique body to clothe/photograph, so she gave me these tips!

I’m trying to find long sleeve cardigans so i did not pick up this sucker. but it sure is adorable.

as for braids, I think they’re fine, but they’re most appropriate when you’re wearing hobo-chic style. or don’t pull it so tight. give it a casual loose vibe.

You both did such a great job styling this cardigan. The length is just perfect for casual wear. I do have problems with posing too. I guess do whatever you’re comfortable with. My bang is also growing out. I currently use the bobby pin to keep it out of my face. It’s very annoying but my bang is not long enough to braid

Lol! I was just thinking the same thing about posing today! I use the same right head tilt.

I love your poses, though. All the ladies have their natural pose, which is nice! I do not like it when it is forced or fake. Keep doing what you’re doing! 🙂

Now on to your outfit…you look lovely! I really do like the braid! I do not think there is anything wrong with a slight juvenile look, as long as only one item exudes this. So, you pass! 🙂
