I don’t know about most of you, but I’m terrible at doing my nails. I love the look of polished nails, but the time and effort it takes usually deters me from painting them. In the past it would take such planning to give myself a manicure. I would get all my errands done, change into my comfy clothes, get ready for bed and block off the next three hours so that I could leave myself enough time for my nails to dry (it should be obvious why I would usually only end up doing my nails once or twice a year!). Really, who has time for all this?? I always envied the ladies that had perfectly done nails, or could afford to make trips to the nail salon on a regular basis.
I am a regular reader of blogs and I found a great basic nail tutorial by Jen at From Head to Toe where she mentioned the product Seche Vite.
I was intrigued and managed to track down the top coat at the store called Toronto Barber and Beauty Supply.
I have to admit I was skeptical because EVERY TIME I do my nails no matter how long I sit to let them dry I always end up with nicks, dents or the dreaded wrinkles from my clothes or blankets.
Let me just tell you all that I LOVE this stuff!!!!! It literally takes only a few minutes for your nails to dry and you can go on doing all your normal daily activities – seriously!!! I already turned one person on to it and she tried it last week and is also in LOVE!!!
I went back to the store to get the base coat but they had to order it in for me, so when I get to try that out I will also do a review.
I picked it up at the Heartland Town Centre location but if you go and try this stuff out (that is if I don’t buy it all out LOL), please let me know what you think and and where else it is available!
If you’re ever near Markham, the store “Phoenix” at Pacific Mall carries it for ~$11-13 (can’t remember the exact price). It also stocks tonnes of NYX, China Glaze ($6.50ea), OPI, Essie, and more.
It’s in one of the corners, next to the big JYC House.
@Jen I’ll definitely look out for that base coat – I haven’t been able to get my hands on the Seche Vite base coat still. If anyone sees it let me know!!!
I’ll check out Winners too
For those in Toronto TBBS has the top coat on sale for $5.99!!! I stocked up LOL!
Heard so much about it but haven’t found it in the stores – not that I’ve been looking hard. Thanks for this post. Will try Winners (thanks Jen).
I also love this stuff! I’ve found mine at Winners (in Calgary).
Have you tried Nail Tech Foundation as a base coat? I had to order on Ebay, but totally worth it!
I <3 this stuff too! Seriously the best ever. Sadly I still can't do my own nails very well (so streaky), but when I actually do get it right, this makes it last forever!
I never thought a topcoat could make such a huge difference but SV really does. I went from being completely unable to do my own nails to now doing them every week (and they look just as good as when I go get them done!). Even if I glop on my polish unevenly, I apply SV immediately and it smooths it out like glass! I also found out about it via Jen otherwise wouldn’t have thought to shell out $8 or $9 for a topcoat.
