True Color Eyeshadow Quad – Purple Haze

Posted on October 20, 2010March 30, 2020 by Elaine

I wanted to share one of my favorite eye shadow palettes from Avon:  True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Haze.

I love how all four shades in the quad palettes are complimentary.  You can wear just 1 shade or all and they work together.

Also, on the back of each of the quads is a diagram and it shows you how to apply each colour.

You can see that I’ve used the palette quite a bit!
Here are a couple of shots of how I wore all four colours. (Please remember I am not a make up artist, so I’m sure my technique is far from perfect!)
First, I put the lightest colour all over my lids and under my brow bone.

Next, I applied the medium/light shade from the middle of my lids to the outer edge.  Sorry, in the pictures it’s really difficult to see the colour difference as the light of the camera captures the pigment of the eyeshadow differently than in real life.

Then, I took the medium/dark colour and added it to the outer edge of my eye and up the contour of my eyelid almost in a “sideways V” motion:

Last, I took the darkest colour and applied it REALLY SPARLINGLY to the very outer edge of my eye.  I then blended it up into the contour but did not actually add any colour to the contour.  Remember, you can always add more colour to layer but it’s difficult to undo what has already been done!

That’s it for the eyeshadow!  To finish I lined my eyes with Avon Glimmerstick Waterproof eyeliner in Teal waters (I like coloured eyeliners, but most people are more comfortable with black, brown or grey).  Teal waters is unfortunately no longer available but Midnight Blue will give you a similar look.

Finally I coated my lashes with a thin coat of  Avon’s Wash off Waterproof Mascara in Navy.  (Sorry Navy is also no longer available!)
And here is the final look!
And that’s it!   I’m sure I will learn how to produce better pictures and figure out other ways to do my eye makeup, so I hope to produce better posts in the future!
What is your favorite eyeshadow and how do you wear it?

    Thanks ladies!

@Canadianpetite – I haven’t seen the Tarte palette yet, but I’m always hesitant to splurge on makeup items since I’ve been spoiled to get stuff at really great prices. Plus, as much as I love makeup I’m generally only playing around with it on the weekends LOL! I ALMOST splurged on the UD Naked palette, surprisingly my local Sephora had a bunch in – but I talked myself out of it. Now everytime I go into Sephora there are none on the shelves. Sort of kicking myself for not getting it….but it’s probably a good thing for my wallet 😉

I think you applied it well! This palette and the Denim ones are my faves. I also like the mark ones for my everyday neutral. I bought the 12-in-1 palette but haven’t broke it out yet. I spotted the Tarte Jewelry Box palette – do you think that’s worth the splurge? I wish I can lay my hands on the UD Naked palette…

Nice nice nice! I can tell you put a lot of effort in this step by step post & photos. I have to send the nail post below to Tiny in TX she loves chocolate colored nail polish!

My fave eyeshadow is my only palette…the Stilla smokey eye palette because I haven’t yet splurged on Urban Decay naked. Do you have that?
