Opinions needed please! Jacob Dress

Posted on September 2, 2010 by Elaine

It’s been a crazy week with a few lows, but I’m hoping to start the long weekend off with a fresh start.

Last weekend I did a bit of shopping and picked up this little dress on the sale rack of Jacob a Canadian Clothing store.   I loved the colour of it – a soft pink and loved the details on it.  It also has adjustable straps so the top part of the dress sits nicely on my chest.   It’s more of a loose fitted dress which I like sometimes as it gives a more casual easy going feel.

I need opinions on whether this dress is versatile or not.  It’s more of a summery dress and it’s nicely lined, but could it work for Fall?  I’m trying to purchase pieces that can work for multiple seasons.

Dress:  Jacob size XS

So, is it a keeper?

And if so, any ideas on how to carry this dress to the Fall so I don’t have to wait until June to wear it?

I think this is a super pretty dress and love the detail of it! It looks peach on my end and very Spring/Summer like.

Maybe throw on a blazer for Fall/Winter? If you got a good deal then definitely keep it! It looks like it fits nicely even tho there are some bulk on the side view.

Hmmm mixed reviews on this one!! I agree, the length could use some work – didn’t even think about the different lengths of the hem…I mean I saw it but didn’t think much of it 😛 I’ll play around and see if it can be adjusted, I’m sure it’s the belt on it, plus the adjustable straps.

Thank you sooo much for all the great tips!! I have so much trouble mixing pieces together, it’s so great to get feedback like this 🙂

Hun, I’m so sorry it’s been so busy, I meant to comment on this yesterday. I think this is a very versatile dress, I saw this at the rack but not the right size.

So, a couple of points: you are so petite, I wuold hem it shorter. This dress can be paired with a Boyfriend Blazer, a cropped cardi, you can wear the dress as a top, you can wear the dress as a skirt! It’s romantic and light, you can dress it more lady-like or juxtapose it with a moto jacket!

    much love

I absolutely love that dress! It looks fantastic on you! I echo what Collette said (she’s so smart!) and you can also wear it in the winter with a sweater layered on top and tights.

I REALLY like this dress on you…though I am not entirely sure about its versatility. I don’t really have a good eye when it comes to pretty dresses like these. I would say keep it and wear it a lot during the spring/summer.

Very cute dress! For fall, I would wear it with a round neck cropped cardigan in black cashmere with some pearls – a kind of retro “Chanel” look.

The dress is cute but it seems a little long. I would prefer an inch or two shorter. If you like, you can pair this dress with a blazer and boots for colder weather.

Very cute dress! Of course you can wear it for fall/winter, I would wear it with stockings under and a ajcket or cardigan over. I live in Sweden so it gets pretty cold.

The color looks kinda peachy on my monitor. It looks simple enough that you can probably transform using different layering pieces and accessories. I guess it also depends on the price and also if the uneven-ness (front looks a little higher) can be readjusted. Hope you have a great long weekend! 🙂

Hmm…was it expensive? I agree with aradhana that it looks a little uneven probably due to the waist tie. It is a pretty dress but feels very Spring & Summer to me. Not sure how it would look with boots or Fall clothing, but I’m sure you can be creative.

A brown or black blazer/jacket can probably transform that dress, and don’t forget a nice pair of boots.

I could see it with a cute blazer or chunky sweater and some knee-high flat boots for fall or winter…the perfect dainty inner layer!

I really think the color is versatile! But the cut looks a little uneven from the side angle (the top is higher)? I don’t know if that’s just the picture!

If it were me, I may hem it a little! But otherwise, it can totally be a fall dress or even a winter dress (I personally love pastels in the winter! They somehow feel warmer!)

The style of this dress is adorable regardless! Great buy!

HI there:) I think the dress is fantastic:) Id soooo get a cute little floral shirt and put in underneath the dress:)Id style it with a cream colored cardigan, remove the dress belt and use that to cinch over the cardigan, itll still keep the aesthetics of the dress:) Add little lacey knee high socks with some nude colored shoes…you will be ROCKING this dress in the Fall….
