NARS Velvet Lip Glide

Posted on October 18, 2016March 30, 2020 by Sohnee

We’ve got a new season of lip shades, textures, and products, people! This season, I’m excited about a new collection of liquid lip colours:  NARS Velvet Lip Glide ($34). The formula is like a combination of the comfort of a lipstick with the fluidity and effortlessness of a gloss. Each provides you with a semi-matte, silky finish that feels soft on your lips and doesn’t dry them out.

A shade for everyone

There is a total of thirteen (13) shades to choose from, so they actually do have colours that suit every skin tone. There are four (4) nude shades in this collection, Stripped (beige pink), Unlaced (nude pink), Playpen (pink coral), and Bound (rose pink).

Bound is the perfect pink nude for my lips while the other three look amazing on lighter skin tones. There are reds, berry tones, and deep jewel tones including garnet, aubergine (that’s purple!) and even a rich chestnut in this collection.

The colours are buildable and quite versatile. If you apply it lightly to the centre of your lips, you can use your finger to spread the colour across to provide a light stain (the formula is light enough that you can do this to your cheeks for blush and you won’t have sticky skin!). If you apply it directly with the doe foot applicator, you can get some really nice coverage that will last.

Great packaging

I also really like the minimal, modern design. The tubes look great in anyone’s makeup collection. Plus, this is always a great point for me – NARS is a cruelty-free brand. While their parent company may not be cruelty-free, NARS does not sell their products in China and do not test on animals. I can always feel good knowing that I’m applying makeup that didn’t need to be tested on an animal, too.

The NARS Velvet Lip Glide are currently available in stores. Which shades are you doing to try this season?

Oh, I love those orangey-red shades! I’m glad to hear that these liquid lippies aren’t drying. I bought a couple of gorgeous red lip crayons from NARS a year ago or so, and unfortunately they were so drying to my lips they’re still sitting in my stash waiting to be tossed. I’m glad that some makeup companies are figuring out how to make non-drying lipsticks!

They’ve definitely come out with a great formula! I’ve been wearing Bound pretty much everyday now and love that I never feel dry lips anymore 🙂
