I think the most popular line in the John Frieda collection is the “Frizz Ease” line. If anyone is able to test out this claim it’s me and my “signature” frizzy (errr curly) hair!
I suffer from frizz all the time. No matter what time of year. Actually…the only time I don’t have frizzy hair is usually on a beach vacation when my hair is getting its fill of salt water then drying up on it’s own in the sun…BUT for everyday life this isn’t very practical! Whether you have curly or straight hair frizzy hair can definitely be an issue. Luckily there are product lines for both types of hair by John Frieda!
I asked one of John Frieda’s in house expert Alain Larivee on how to use the products properly to achieve a frizz free mane.
1. Whether you have curly or straight hair it’s important to start off with a good foundation. Frizz Ease Shampoos and Conditioners are the first step towards frizz free hair.
2. While hair is still SOAKING wet Alain recommends applying an anti-frizz hair serum to your hair while you are still in the shower. DO NOT rinse out!
3. Now it’s time to style! For wavy of curly hair Alain says to start with the Dream Curls Curl Perfecting Spray which is enriched with magnesium restoring elasticity and hence enhancing the natural curl pattern.
Follow the spray with Curl Reviver Styling Mousse and apply it evenly throughout the hair. Comb your hair section by section and wrap sections of hair around your fingers and twist into curls. This helps to flatten the hair’s cuticle and cut down on frizz. Air dry or gently diffuse on low heat.
For my straight hair friends, start with 3-day Straight Semi-Permanent Spray. This spray has keratin which protein and heat-activated polymers which work with your blow dryer or flat iron to help keep your hair straight for up to 3 days! (Assuming you don’t wash your hair of course.)
After you’ve used your blow dryer or flat iron lock in the style with either (or a combination) of the 100% Shine Glossing Mist, Secret Weapon Finishing Creme and Moisture Barrier Hair Spray.
Ok, so most days I do not have the time to do the “twist around my finger thing” but here is my “quick and dirty” technique.
1. After using the shampoo and conditioner in the shower I apply the serum all over my hair.
2. I spritz my hair with the curl spray and distribute evenly with my fingers.
3. I apply a dollop of mousse all over my hair, flip my head upside down and distribute evenly. I add another smaller dollop of mousse and GENTLY scrunch my hair and “shake out” my roots with my fingers so they do not end up glued to my head
4. At this point my hair is still sopping wet so I take an old t-shirt and wrap my hair in it gently while I do my makeup.
5. I remove the towel and let air dry since it’s summer but in the winter I will likely diffuse dry.
Here are the results – not COMPLETELY frizz free as I didn’t follow all the proper steps but good enough for me!
