I am so super behind on getting my posts up! A while back Sydney had this dress up on her blog sale site and I quickly jumped at the opportunity! LOFT is unfortunately not available in Canada so I get my LOFT fix from other petite bloggers!
I was so excited when I received the dress, it’s much prettier in person than in the stock photo.
LOFT Sleeveless Tulle Neckline Dress – 00P
I love the length of this dress and can see it working well for work with tights and a blazer and for going out to maybe a baby shower or wedding shower. Unfortunately, the fit is not perfect for me.
It’s too tight in the hips / butt area!!!
^ you can see how it bunches up and give me a “tail” ^
^ and it’s dong that “s” thing at the front I learned about on Jean’s post here ^
^see the bunching in the front?^
So ladies, I LOVE this dress and I got it at a FABULOUS price! As I mentioned before, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to find a tailor. I have a few in mind in my area, but I want to turn to all of you the experts on what alterations you think I need to have done in order for this to fit better. Then I’ll see what my potential tailor has to say!
I can’t believe Christmas Eve is tomorrow!! I unfortunately still have to work tomorrow but at least it’s only half day. I will be with my side of the family tomorrow evening then with my husband’s family on Christmas. Afterwards we are heading to Montreal for a couple days!!! So I don’t know how much time I will have to check in on everyone’s blogs, but I will be working on my Secret Santa post!
For everyone that celebrates I wish you a very Merry Christmas and for everyone I hope you spend quality time with all your family and loved ones
This is wonderful blog. I love it.
This dress is so pretty on you from the front – I especially love the top! Sucks about the back…and like the other commenters have mentioned, I’m not sure it’s something a tailor can fix. This might have to be a pass…good luck!
And hope you’re having a fabulous holidays!
Oh! I tried that dress on, too… it’s so pretty, but it didn’t fit me well either. I hope your tailor can figure something out… And what’s up with no LOFT in Canada? That is cruel! They don’t have it in Hawaii (where I used to live) either. So unfair…
Wow the dress looks amazing from the front! Sucks about the fit though…ahh.. hate it when that happens. If all else fails, maybe wearing a blazer will cover up the bunching in the back.
Hope you’re having a great holiday!

I’m so sorry this didn’t work out for you so easily. I totally agree with Jean that this color with your skin tone is so amazing! Your tailor should be able to let out the seams on the bottom half of the skirt as long as there is enough extra material to work with. If you do wind up having him let out the sides a bit, make sure to have him keep the original line of the skirt so that it doesn’t turn into an a-line. Good luck and keep us posted. Merry Christmas!!
I bought this dress and blogged about it in the summer but then ended up returning it because I just couldn’t see myself wearing it more than once. I like it from the front, it’s a pretty dress.
Def see what a tailor recommends. I am so sad that it didn’t work out:(
Such a pretty dress! I know nothing about alterations. Hopefully someone can help you out because this is great!
So unfortunate on the fit because it looks very cute on you in the 1st photo! Like PAG, I don’t have much experience in letting things out though I know it’s possible. Let us know what the tailor says. Happy holidays to you too!
aww, i’m so sorry to hear that the dress didn’t work out! it looks like it would be tricky to alter. i would suggest just taking it to a tailor and seeing what they recommend. i do like the color and hopefully it can work out for you!

I am sorry to hear that the dress didn’t work out off the rack, I have the exact same dress but I am more boy figured (no butt…unfortunately) so the s thing didn’t happen with me. I think the material of the dress is hard to alter…I think it might be better if you try to sell it to a fellow petite? It’s otherwise so pretty on you, I love the color against your lighter skin tone.
Aww, this dress from the front is so pretty and feminine on you. I saw Sydney was selling all the LOFT items at great prices too. It was nice of her to pass on the bargains.
I’m really stumped about what alterations may work. My only experience is taking things in so I’m not familiar with where/how things may be let out. My complaint with LOFT is that they tend to make their dresses high waisted, almost but not quite empire waisted, making it hard to be universally flattering. Keep us posted on what your tailor says! I hope they’ll actually fix the problem instead of having you pay more and leave the issue unfixed or even worse (happened so so so many times to me). Maybe if no one else has suggestions..sell it to a fellow Canadian petite?
Sydney it’s not your fault at all! I’m very bad at measuring myself
I’m more about trial and error – at least I know what size I am now in LOFT dresses
Elaine, I am sorry that the dress didn’t work out for you. I have never had a dress altered before so I couldn’t give you any recommendations. Hopefully some other petites will be able to give you some good ideas. Merry Christmas to you and your family
