Petite Fashion Challenge #6

Posted on March 24, 2011 by Elaine
Petite Fashion Challenge #6 is being hosted by the one and only Jess from Stylepint.

The Challenge:“Dress Up Your Basics”
Jeans and a tee is a classic outfit starter. Depending on what you layer over this basic pairing, you can change style and feel of the entire look. This is your chance to show your personality and your creativity.
For this challenge, start off with a jeans and tee basic look (it can be any style or color) and dress it up to show off your personal style with accessories, jewelry, and whatever you’d like to add.

I was actually pretty excited about this one, my basic “uniform” is jeans and some kind of top so I did have a bunch of ideas going in my head, but I wanted to kind of just keep in simple and stick with one “look”.

Here is my basic white T and jeans look:
IMG_1114
T-shirt:  H&M XS
Jeans: Gap Jean Leggings 00R – OF COURSE! 😉 (here)
Boots:  Me Too size 7
(As an aside my hair isn’t chopped off, it was behaving badly so it went up in a ponytail – not the best look for me unfortunately!)

There are so many ways to dress of a simple outfit like this – scarves, jewellery, sweaters, jackets etc.  It’s the perfect base to start any outfit on!

I decided to go with jewellery and a blazer.  BUT I thought I would go a little “extra” and throw on some “night time” jewellery and a pretty clutch:
IMG_1147
Jewellery:  Avon (2 necklaces layered)
Clutch:  Banana Republic gift from ML of Twenty York Street
To dress it up even further, a blazer always does the trick!
IMG_1155
Blazer:  Mexx XS

IMG_1151

I wish I had found a pair of earrings to go with this outfit, but I felt the ones I had were either too small or too dangly and were competing with the necklace.
I think this outfit is good enough for a night out on the town (if I ever had a night out on the town Ha!).
What do you think?

@BanhannasHanna, it IS pretty light! At least in the front, that’s where most of the highlights are and it looks lighter b/c I have my hair tied back 😉

@Jen HaHADressy necklaces are the best aren’t they?

    @Angeline merci!

    @N Thank you! 🙂

@ErinAvon has DEFINITELY changed! I seriously love most of the jewellery, I have strangers come up to me and tell me they love my jewellery 😛

@Kiki Thank you, thank you Kiki! This was a fun challenge 🙂

@Slayerbabe The necklaces are fun aren’t they? and of course that amazing clutch!

@Elle Definitely not much colour going on in this one. I guess the “bling” was enough for me 😛

@Mae Lu Thank you for your comment! I’m slowly starting to build a collection of blazers 😉

@fashionforteens haha, yes we did have really similar looks for the challenge 😉

@Kimberly That’s what I loved about this challenge – it’s amazing what small little change can completely transform an outfit!

Elaine…the Gap legging jeans made SO many appearances in this round of PFC! Lol, I think I counted 5 so far but may have lost count. I love them on you, especially worn in your final look. That clutch from ML is SO cute! It looks more expensive than BR. You are ready for a night on the town for sure.

Yes, this outfit is totally appropriate for a night on the town. I think the necklace is perfect. It’s statement enough with a plain white t-shirt. Dressing up your basics never looked so good!

Proud ☺️🌈 And loud, since I have the privi Proud ☺️🌈

And loud, since I have the privilege of being able to live my life openly, unlike so many of my 2SLGBTQIA+ peers. I’m a straight-passing cis white woman, so my queerness doesn’t threaten most people.

So, with that advantage in mind, let me use this small platform to say to anyone who is listening:

Never forget that Pride started as a riot.

That Pride is more than slapping a rainbow on something, jacking up the price, and saying “love is love” for four weeks out of the year.

That true allyship involves action and accountability, 365.

That trans women, two-spirit individuals, and queer folks of color are the heart and soul of our community. That they continue to show up, to fight, to love, and to lead while facing very real danger. That we owe so much to their courage.

Never forget that queer folks have always been here.

That you can’t erase us, ban us, or legislate us out of existence.

That queerness is a part of nature.

That it exists even when it’s no longer trendy or politically advantageous.

That we notice and remember who speaks up and who is silent.

That we contain multitudes.

That we deserve safety, compassion, legal protections, love, joy, and a future - just like every other human.

That not all of us are “out” and don’t need to be; that we will invite you in if and when we choose to, and if and when we feel safe to do so.

That queer folks make the world better.

And that, despite seemingly insurmountable odds, we’re going to be ok.

Because resilience, creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness are fundamental parts of who we are.

So we’re not going anywhere. Get on board.

Happy Pride!

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Come with me to pick up the art piece created from Come with me to pick up the art piece created from the flowers in my bridal bouquet! 🥹❤️

Getting my flowers preserved and turned into this incredible piece was one of the best decisions I made during my wedding planning. ✨

Amanda and her team are extraordinary artists (and wonderful humans!) who give your flowers a new life and preserve memories. Every time I walk past this piece on my wall, my heart glows with flashbacks of my wedding day.

If you have an important event that includes flowers, do yourself a favor and book with Parched to get them preserved. They accept flowers from across Canada, and have worked on blooms marking all occasions of life, from graduations, baby showers, weddings, and memorials. They can even create pendants using flower remnants!
