Pleats, Polka Dots and Feathers

Posted on October 14, 2011 by Elaine
***Note:  I’m away on vacation so this is a scheduled post!
I may not be able to respond to comments as quickly as I’d like to!***

Three trends that I’ve been seeing lately are pleats, polka dots and feathers.  Normally I would say to take ONE trend and go with it.  But is it possible to incorporate three trends at once?  I managed to figure out a way to do it pretty subtly.

IMG_3780
Skirt:  H&M size 4 (see my review of the size 2 on FitReview)
Top:  LOFT Ruffle Front Tank XXSP (see my review on FitReview)
Necklace:  mark by Avon
Headband:  Featherband
Shoes:  Nine West size 7

Wow, so yes I realize I wear this necklace and these shoes WAAAAY too much.  But that’s kind of how I am – when I love something I wear it to DEATH until I get sick of it.  At least I’m getting a great cost per wear out of them right?

IMG_3779

I looove my Featherband headband!  It’s just makes me feel so girly 🙂

And what’s the best part about this pleated skirt?

IMG_3785

The twirl factor of course!

IMG_3789

These pictures were taken a while ago as I don’t have the pink extensions in my hair anymore, but I just loved how the feather of the headband matched my pink hair perfectly!

and here’s a close up of my headband…so pretty!

So did I pull off wearing all three trends at once or was it too much?  What trends are you trying lately?

I hope your vacation was fantastic!!
I have seen this polka dot skirt on a lot of bloggers and it looks just as amazing on you as it does on them. This is a great H&M purchase. So twirly! And that fascinator is FABULOUS!

I love your headband!! And your look too! I have a few…but I always forget about wearing them (so bad…), I guess I’m not used to accessorizing my hair! I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and the groom was British…and everyone had all these fancy fascinators! We really should try to add more to our boring hair..lol

And its not too many trends…its all very subtle and ties in together!!

It’s so cool you’re able to capture the skirt in motion! You know, normally I’d say it’s a lot of trends to wear at once, but the feather headband colors goes nicely with the rest of your outfit. Twirl away, Elaine!

Oh you could totally pull off the coloured jeans, I’m not sure I could – I always tend to jump on trends when they’re on their way out the door to make sure I really like it hahaha!

Hahaha – I have the same polka dot skirt! You wear it so much better than me though. Love how you put this outfit together. My faves are the twirling pictures, its a must when wearing a pleated skirt. Love the headband as well. Have a great weekend.

    Hi Elaine,
What a sweet look. I’m not the one to put feathers in my hair but it really suits you (and i love the nude shoes-oh, and the polka dots 🙂 The trend i’m really into now is the colored jeans (the brighter, the better)- and i’ve seen some animal print jeans (leopard) floating around. Should I try them, hmmmm…… Anyways, i know that you’re in Punta Cana right now so have a great trip!

They work together perfectly, I love this look!

And it’s completely ok to wear the same things over and over again…that’s why they are “classics”…they go with everything. I wear my “nude” pumps all the time! 🙂

Love this look! You pulled together 3 trends, but it’s not overkill. You know that I love that necklace and I worn my more times than I can count. It is so versatile! Heather
