Taking off the Layers

Posted on February 11, 2011 by Elaine

I’m all about layering, layering, layering. It’s definitely a necessity right now. I rushed home yesterday and jumped right into bed watching old movies with the husband 😉 – it was supposed to be -19°C and -28°C with the wind chill! I drive to work and have my heated seats to keep me warm –  I don’t even know how you ladies that commute in weather like this manage to stay warm AND stylish at the same time!

Here’s a typical “layering” outfit and me removing the layers LOL (Don’t worry, it’s PG)

Jeans:  Banana Republic 0P (similar style here)
Blazer:  Mexx XS
Scarf:  dara dot designs
Blazer unbuttoned….
Blazer off….
Sweater: H&M XS
Scarf off…

Sweater off!
(love the bit of sparkle – makes me feel special 😛 )
Top:  Mexx XS
Ring:  Avon size 5

Did you enjoy the show?  hahaha TOTALLY kidding!

I love this look! It’s warm and cute. I have trouble with layering because I’m never sure what to layer really and always think it will look too bulky but this proves that it doesn’t have too. Great job!

That is AWESOME! I think layers add so much visual interest to an outfit. It was helpful to see how you deconstructed the look! xoxo Kiki

    Lol… fun post 😉

I remember how incredibly cold it was in Toronto… I’m actually surprised you’re not wearing MORE clothes lol. I think I’d wear that many layers already when it hits about 50-60 F here!

I’m a total layer-er as well! But geee, I complain when it is 30 degrees outside but Canada weather is no joke. You definitely look more pulled together than I do, when I wear winter clothes I look like a bear. LOL.

As in any good strip show, you saved the best for last!! That ring is just adorable and is such a pretty color. Thanks for demonstrating the art of proper layering too. Some days, I literally throw on a giant puffer over a t-shirt and GO! I can look a little ridiculous once I get indoors…oops!

I love this! I agree, layering is totally key for a lot of us in frigid temperatures right now! I love how you added the sparkle to your outfit, also the bright pink scarf!

LOL. Remind me of strip poker…well, except better – much better!

Love the jacket. It makes your look very “together”.

Nice outfit! I really like the sparkle shirt and the ring. It’s so strange that a lot of bloggers have the problem of layering because it’s so cold where they live. Where I live, it’s all about trying to dress with less on but still look work appropriate since it’s so hot and humid.

I wear at least 3 layers every day this time of the year. I hate being cold. I don’t feel like dressing up lately because of the weather. I enjoy this outfit as well as your sense of humor 🙂

BRRRRRR…you are right to layer because it’s much colder where you are!

I love the “show” – quite a performance I’d say, I love the bling you incorporated into the outfit! does make it extra special. 🙂

I have that H&M sweater, too! Mine is the cream one, though! I already had too much grey, had to force myself to go for the cream and not the grey!

I loved how you layered a sweater and a blazer together. I usually go with one or the other. The subtle sparkle of your shirt is also wonderful.

What a great post! Lots of people have done the “building an outfit” post but not a taking off the layers post. I love that sparkly top!
