Printed Banana Republic Wrap Dress

Posted on August 28, 2012 by Elaine

I got this dress when I was in Florida at the Banana Republic Factory store. That is always a stop off for me when in the US because they have a petites section. Little did I know that the BR Factory store near my work ALSO has a petites section LOL! I guess I can now try to fit in some lunch time shopping instead of waiting all year round to hit the BR factory store 😉

BR Factory Wrap Dress – XSP

This dress fits me quite well but I still wear a camisole underneath – it’s a wrap dress so I have to be careful about unintentional gaps. I also find that I need to be cautious about the bottom of the dress as it can split open quite high if I’m not paying attention. I’ll probably have to look for a black slip to solve both these issues.

I had seen Jean tweet a picture of Khatu and then later in the week saw her Mono Print post. Aren’t the dresses so similar?
This dress is perfectly work appropriate and I don’t think it needs much of anything to dress it up since the print is fairly bold already and there is so much contrast with black and white.

Any thoughts as to where I can find a black slip made for someone my height? (Can you even buy full length slips anymore?)

The dress is gorgeous on you. When I wear a wrap dress I usually used a safely pin to pin the bottom together. Just be careful because the safely pin may create tiny hole in the dress. Fashion tape may be a better option.

Ahh good thinking! I’ll try that out next time. The ties of the wrap dress are kind of long though so with a belt it might be a little bulky under? I’ll try it out though. Maybe I should pair it with some brighter accessories like bangles or a necklace? Or even just earrings?

Thanks so much Jenny! I was a bit worried the print would be too bold for my frame but I think it worked out 🙂

The print is fantastic, but I think it would look pretty great with a bright/bold coloured belt to break up the pattern!

You look amazing!! This hugs your curves so nicely! I just posted a BR Factory dress, too! 🙂

Maybe consider using a safety pin for the bottom part?

I love the Banana Republic Factory Store. I always shop at the Vaughan Mills location 🙂 I love the print and the wrap style makes your waist look itty bitty!

I’ve seen shorter length full slips at Wal-Mart for around $16. They come in black, white and beige.

This is a great dress! Wrap dresses are so timeless and classic, especially in black and white like this one. I do wear a cami and slip under mine so nobody gets any unintentional flashing, lol. I think I found my black slip at Target? Heather

Love that dress! How about some fashion tapes to avoid the flap from flying away without having to wear some extra layer? Slips will be perfect for the fall warmth though. Hmmm try Macys or target?

The dress looks great on you! For full length slips, they are probably harder to find than half slips, but try Sears or Winners. You might even find some at Walmart or something, but I can’t attest to the quality.
