Recently, Simple ‘Sensitive Skin’ Skincare, via the Blush Pretty Presents event, was kind enough to provide me with almost their entire skin care line for review. The products provided are endless, so I’ll slowly be making my way through them all and providing reviews as I go. Bear with me! First up, front and centre: Simple Smoothing Facial scrub.

Price: $8.00 – $14.00 (CAN)
What It Claims: “…gently lift away dry, dead skin cells, to help your skin look brighter…”
What They’ve Added: For this specific cleanser, they’ve added specific vitamins to help enhance the user’s skin vitality. These include: Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E.
Company Overview: To be honest, I was fairly unfamiliar with the Simple Skincare brand. Upon researching, I knew the brand for me. If you have sensitive and fair skin, Simple Skincare has the product for you. Simple Skincare provides products that are free from artificial dyes and perfumes, and include pure and sometimes natural ingredients only. Thus, their products are perfectly targeted for individuals with sensitive skin issues.
Initial Thoughts: As mentioned, I’d unfortunately never had the pleasure of using Simple’s skincare line. This was going to be a new experience and I was crossing my fingers, hoping for the best.
Upon return from my Caribbean vacation, my skin flared up dramatically and unexpectedly (has anyone else experienced this?). The drastic change in my skin had me feeling self-conscious, and I immediately decided to delve into the skincare products of Simple. If my skin was already reacting to the harsh environmental changes, then the last thing I wanted to do was aggravate it more with harsh chemicals and smells.
Usage: The product itself has micro beads within the creamy formula that help gently brush away dead skin cells. The formula itself is a nice, cream based texture. Massage onto your face slowly, and be sure to stay away from the eyes.
I have to say, within one week of usage, the breakouts on both my chest and face were substantially lessened. I felt that the product really helped control new breakouts from forming, and helped lessen the redness of the current ones. I think the added benefit of less chemical and harsh ingredients aided with this progress; there was no harsh reactions whatsoever. The one thing I truly noticed with this product? My skin felt clean.
The only downside (for me, personally) was the smell. With no added special perfumes and dyes, the product has a very potent citrus-y smell – very lemon-lime. I’ve gotten used to it with the daily use, but at first, I found the smell to be very off-putting.
