Not So Mellow Yellow

Posted on March 15, 2011December 21, 2014 by Elaine

Wow, I just realized that I have MANY outfit posts that I have not posted yet.  I guess this is a good thing since the past couple of weeks I haven’t taken any pictures LOL!

It’s been a busy few weeks and more busy weeks ahead.  I’m looking forward to the Toronto Petite Bloggers (Petite Toronto Bloggers?) meetup happening this weekend!!  I’m sure there will be many posts about this one 😉

The next few posts will be outfits from BEFORE I got my hair done recently.  You’d think I’d want to be showing off my new hair in all my posts right?  Well…the problem is that I’ve had less time to blog because I have to spend time straightening my hair!!!!  I know, priorities, right? 😛

Anyway, here is an outfit that I had been meaning to share because it’s probably one of the only times that I wore my bright yellow coat from this post.  I think this is another contender for the Color Brigade, no?

IMG_0224
Coat: Old Navy XS
Skirt:  Suzy Shier size 0

I think I can still wear this coat in the spring when it’s a bit cool out.  I don’t wear this coat as much as I would like to as I will explain later….

IMG_0228
Cardigan:  Gap XS (similar style but no mustard available!)
Top:  mark by Avon
Jewellery:  Avon (similar statement necklace) (earrings here)
Tights:  can’t remember!
And with the jacket off:
IMG_0242
What unfortunately didn’t work for me was that this skirt kept on sticking to my tights!  I didn’t have this problem when I wore this skirt in the summer with bare legs.

Close up of my earring:

IMG_0251
The earrings match the necklace I wore in this post.
And here is a detailed shot of the necklace I wore:
I received a lot of compliments on this outfit especially the yellow coat.  But…my husband HATES it LOL!  We went to the auto show a couple weeks ago and I said I wanted to wear my yellow coat so that he could see me if I got lost (he says I always disappear in the crowd since I’m so small 😉 ) but he refused to go out with me wearing it 😛  I was kind of miffed, but changed anyway.  So is there an article of clothing that your significant other or your friends loathe?

    I love that yellow coat on you!!! But I understand…my man hates leggings and skinny jeans so I try not to wear them too much around him but I do sneak them in sometimes cuz I love them 🙂

    @kimmie oh boo I hate when sizes sell out! I could see the blue on you 🙂

    @LaLaaLove What? She hates the skirt, oh no! I love that skirt, I feel like it’s too dressed up for work so I don’t wear it that often, but I probably should wear it anyway.

    @graceOh thank you Grace :)LOL well an elf hate and striped stockings might be suitable at Christmas time…maybe?

    @Elle OMG Elle you just reminded me, my husband hates puffy shoulders!!! And I LOOOVE puffy shoulders especially on blazers.

    @Julia Vorob’eva Thank you so much Juila, and I appreciate you stopping by!

    WHAT?! He doesn’t like thia amazing coat? I think yellow is a BEAUTIFUL color on you…hmpf, men! Bf doesn’t like puffed sleeves even though I told him it’s princess-like therefore fairytale like…he also doesn’t get “flowy” items. I disregard him because he just doesn’t get it. In any case, your outfit is terrific…I can totally see why it was well complimented. I think the tucked in cardigan look suits you incredibly well!

    Wow, that yellow is amazing! I love it! It totally brightens everything up and puts an immediate smile on my face!

    Haha, I don’t think my friends would ever complain about something I wear even if they didn’t like what I was wearing. They might object if I wore something really horrendous.. like red striped stockings and an elf hat.

    My ex rarely liked what I wore, but I think it’s because most of it was too big on me. I’ve changed my wardrobe quite a bit since then.

    @SewPetiteGal Thank you!! 🙂

    @Aubrey LOL does he like anything?!? I guess he likes you in either jeans or a black dress 😛

    @Kiki I know, mean! 😛

    @PetiteXXS I think he thinks it’s TOO bright! I have some bright accessories and dresses which he likes. Maybe it is just the yellow for clothes. He can’t hate yellow in general because we used to have a yellow car!

    @CessOviedo Water!!! Brilliant! Thanks for the tip 🙂

    @{av} oooh thank you so much!

    @Melissa Thanks Melissa 🙂

    @Tara OMG Tara you could sooo pull off a yellow coat I can SEE you!

    @Really Petite Thanks Annie! Yes, certainly bold amongst all the grey I own 😉

    You look really great in yellow! I could never pull this off. It looks very polished with the skirt and cardigan. And I think it’s a great idea to wear it to events with large crowds. Maybe you can get lost on purpose one time and then when you are reunited with your husband say “see, this wouldn’t happen if I was wearing my yellow coat!”

You should wear it more often, to work, that is, so your husband doesn’t complain. 🙂 Guys are weird, you would think they don’t care much about what you wear, but they have a lot of comments when you wear something they don’t like. lol. My hubby’s pet peeve is the color “teal”. Yup. He’s ok with all the bold colors you can imagine but teal does nothing for him. Weird, right?

Celebrating our best boy’s birthday with a custom Celebrating our best boy’s birthday with a custom sensitive-tummy-approved cake from @jujulet! Cause life’s too short not to mark special occasions 🐶❤️🎂

I can’t believe @guster_dog is already 6! 😭❤️❤️

The cake is made of pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach, and carrot. The “frosting” is potato cream mixed with natural colorings. Gluten-free and lactose-free with lots of healthy veggies means Guster can enjoy his special treat and we don’t have to worry about his health. 🥳

The cake is truly a work of art, and - as you can see - Guster definitely approves of the taste! He ate the sculpture of himself so fast that we didn’t even catch it on camera! 🙈

Would you get a cake for your pet?

Hi! 👋🏼 I’m still here! I’m sorry I haven’t posted Hi! 👋🏼 I’m still here! I’m sorry I haven’t posted much. I’m finding it a bit hard, tbh. 🫤

I’m figuring out what the next phase of #TorontoBeautyReviews looks like and healing from an injury, while my 9-5 has lately been more like 7-7, so I’m filling my off hours with family, dance, food, and books. Finding joy and peace where I can in an intense world. ❤️

I still try out lots of products and I do occasionally paint my face 🙃. I’m just not as interested in the grind of daily posts just for the sake of staying relevant anymore. Which has meant that I’m not on as many PR lists as I used to be. Which means that I don’t have as much new stuff to review. It’s a cycle.

Things are shifting, which is tough sometimes. But it’s ok - so am I. 😊
