OOTD: Leopard print

Posted on September 19, 2010November 4, 2014 by Elaine

I keep hearing about how animal prints are huge for this Fall – for many this is exciting – not so much for me!  I don’t know why but I’ve never been attracted to animal prints.  I think they look AMAZING on other people and am so envious of how they manage to make it work.  Maybe it just doesn’t suit my personality?  I do have a pair of Leopard-ish print shoes (another post) but that’s all I owned.  Until I came across this blazer that is.

Jeans:  Gap Legging Jeans size 00 (yes, I’m wearing these a lot!)
Tank Top:  Old Navy (find it online here)
Blazer:  H&M size 2
Necklace: Avon

I was first drawn to this blazer because of the all the feminine details.  The puffed shoulders and the pleating at the bottom, then I saw the lining!

Not what I’m normally drawn to but I thought this was the right way for me to incorporate some animal print until I get braver 😉

Here’s the sleeves rolled down – a little long.

Back view:

Close up of pleats in the front:

I LOVE the colour of the tank top and the pretty ruffles!

And here’s a close up of my necklace (husband calls them my string of grapes LOL):

Anyone else afraid of animal prints like me?

I freakin LUV that blazer. I’ve always been a lover of animal print so I don’t have to be sold. I encourag you to step out and try it more. Small accessories would be a great way to ease your way into this “trend” which I consider a classic. THIS BLAZER IS HOTT ! I love that it appears completely normal but then you open it and “BAM”. Luvs it ! Great job. Looks cute on you too. Go check out my blog please 🙂

I don’t own any leopard print …yet. I definitely am looking to get a few staple pieces like a coat or something. But admittedly I am intimidated. I love the splash of leopard print in the lining of your jacket – now that’s a fantastic way to start.

I’m totally afraid of it! I feel the same way – love it on other ppl, but I’m not sure how to work it into my own wardrobe. I think a jacket lining is a good place to start though!

Great way to ease your way into wearing leopard… I think it’s all in starting out small and getting used to it and then getting bolder! Trust me– anyone can pull it of, and you definitely can! 🙂

    Have a great day!

Animal print is SO in this season. And this blazer? It’s gorgeous!! I so need to pick this up. Everyone at work would ask me “Where did you get that??” I love when people ask that 😉

You’re are rocking that jacket! I saw that but passed it by thinking it would just accentuate my mommy hips. I love animal print but my co-workers are decidedly too tame so I would stand out (in bad way). I do try to sneak it in tho with scarves.

I love that necklace! The texture/color of the beads are very inviting. Hm about the animal print trend.. I’ve been wanting to purchase a furry leopard print jacket, but haven’t quite decided if I can pull if off yet.

I also have a bit of an animal print phobia. Like you, I think it looks fabulous on everyone else, but I hesitate when it comes to purchasing anything for myself. I really love that this blazer has that pop in the lining – it’s unexpected and HOT 🙂

I can’t pull off animal prints either. I’m thinking of perhaps slowly easing myself into it, one accessory at a time. That’s why I LOVE how the lining peeks through when you fold up the sleeves. So perfect!

“String of grapes” hahaha. But now that he’s gotten the image stuck in my head… I can see his point… 😛

It’s nice that the sleeves are a tad long so you can cuff em and show that leopard print. I love the Gap jeggings so much! I wish I could wear regular length so I can use my two Groupons : (

The jacket became more appealing when you showed the close-up of the details. You look great in that outfit. 🙂

I went to H&M when I was in Montreal and dang, I missed this! I love it on you!

Yes, for years and years, I never wanted to own anything animal print-y. Now, I love the look!

p.s. maybe I’m getting old! ha ha!

Thanks everyone! I felt a little “behind” in the trends because it wasn’t really for me 😉 But this I can do!

@Banhannas – yes it was pretty recent – when I was there a couple of weeks ago they still had it and in black too!

@Lisa – left a comment on your post, but thanks again for the hair compliement! It’s just straightened with a blow dryer. If I don’t blow dry it like this after washing it will go back to being curly again!

And yes, I am a big leopard fan for fall – that jacket is a perfect “touch of leopard” without going overboard!

Oh I am ALL about animal print!

And that blazer is absolute PERFECTION, especially for someone who tends to shy away from animal prints. It’s perfect for you to get your feet wet and oh, I just love it!

That purple is such a gorgeous color, too!

I love your new blazer, I have a feeling you’ll be reaching for it a lot for the fall!

Count me in as someone who is “afraid” of animal prints, I have been told I look young (like get-carded-for-PG-13-movies young) and I am about as emotional mature as a 5-year-old so animal prints always appeared too daring and mature for my wardrobe. But after seeing them styled in various outfits on some of my favorite bloggers I think I am ready to take a step in that direction. 🙂

I’ve always ben scared of animal prints as well, because it has the potential of looking so tacky. But if done right, it looks so sophisticated and makes you look so put-together. The blazer looks pretty well made, and I always love a fun lining fabric! 🙂

When animal print was back in its early stages about … 4 ish years ago I absolutely HATED the trend. Just about a year ago I became more comfortable with it. Animal print just makes a woman feel really sexy!

I really want to go find that blazer the pleating in the front and the animal print is just so luxurious. Was the blazer a recent purchase from H&M?

Animal prints scare me because I think it’s hard to make it look sophisticated. I’m taking baby steps as well, going for non-standard colored prints or picking up animal print accessories instead.

That blazer is such a great find. I love the peek of print at the cuff and in the lining. It makes it special. =)

    LOVE your grapes:)

I think this is the way to go….you can always add a bangle of animal print to an outfit for the subtle little touches….:)

That is a great intro to animal prints for you! And what a nice cropped fit!

I am a big fan of animal prints, but I only have about five items that reflect that.
