So we’ve been working hard over the past 10 years to bring you insights from a diverse group of writers, with the goal of helping you find someone whose opinions and advice matter to you.
What that in mind, we’re beyond thrilled to welcome Doreen to the team as our newest contributor!

I first met Doreen in 2012, when we worked for the same art magazine. We immediately bonded over our shared love of writing, coffee, and finding adventures within the city. (We once even went on an hours-long quest to find the perfect octopus tacos!)
In addition to being a phenomenal writer, Doreen is a kind, warm, and charming person. She immediately puts people at ease, and finds a way to make you smile. And she definitely knows her stuff, beauty-wise! Working with Doreen at the magazine was an absolute dream, and I’m so thrilled to welcome her to our TBR family. I have no doubt that she’ll quickly become your skincare bestie!
Here’s a bit more about Doreen, in her own words
“Hi TBR readers!
My name is Doreen, and it’s a pleasure to join the TBR community! My warm thanks to Maddie for this incredible opportunity and for taking notice of my inherent love for skincare and beauty. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and learning from my fellow contributors and readers.
My first steps into beauty began in my pre-teen years, scouring the makeup aisles of my local pharmacy and peeking into my mom’s gifts-with-purchases. Although I can’t say I made the best beauty decisions (there may have been some frosted blue eyeshadow – it was the late ’90s, after all!), I revelled in the experimentation. I wanted to learn and do more.
I currently work as a data analyst for an art and tech company, but I spent over 10 years working in the beauty industry as a consultant. As I learned about the benefits of double cleansing and acid exfoliation (they’re friendly!), I grew accustomed to listening to my peers and giving advice to clients. Years later, I still continue to keep myself informed (my YouTube history can vouch for me) and share any new finds that might suit my friends and family.
At TBR, I’m excited to discover what’s trending in face masks and serums, new flawless foundations, and any product/service that will give you that lit-from-within glow from head to toe! So come along for the ride (I’ll bring the SPF!) and let’s navigate this beauty world together.”
