So last week was a crazy week in Toronto. It was World Mastercard Fashion week and all the fashionistas and designers were out. The buzz in the city was hard to miss!
Fashion week is always so intimidating for me. Admittedly I don’t know all the designers being showcased and figuring out what to wear is a nightmare! Hands down to the ladies that attend events every night of Fashion week. I have no idea how you do it!
I was invited backstage to check out how the models get prepped and runway ready.
I was a little late as I was confused as to where I was supposed to be so I didn’t get a chance to chat much with Jorge Joao who is a Redken Artist and the lead stylist for World Mastercard Fashion Week.
I did learn however that his based out of Brampton at Koi Hair Studio so if you live in the west end of the GTA be sure to pay him a visit!
Being backstage was seriously an unreal experience. At first everyone was really calm, cool and relaxed.
Then word came that the models would be arriving soon for a quick change over before the next show and the atmosphere suddenly electrified! Jorge gave quick, concise instructions to his team then a cheer followed and they were ready.

Hey Elaine, fun post. Being backstage doing hair is my dream! It must’ve been so fun! I was at fashion week in March helping with a designer and Jorge was in charge backstage too. I remember a sign at the hair and makeup area saying no media allowed but I went up to the door’s window to sneak a few iphone pics anyway haha 🙂 Fashion weeks are so hectic in the moment, and fun to look back on.
