The Beauty Board was Buzzing…wish you were there!

Posted on August 22, 2011 by Elaine

Do you remember the first Beauty Board I attended? Well the 5th Beauty Board was once again a huge success.  So many products to test out, great tunes, amazing food and so many people to mingle with…so much so that I was so distracted and didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted to 🙁

The Beauty Board is put together by none other than Stephanie Daga of Blush Pretty and the Fresh Beautiful Skin Studio.  This girl is unbelievable – she is so talented, has such amazing vision and ideas, a business woman to look up to, a complete family girl (amazing husband AND TWO kids!) and a great friend 🙂  Really!!! And no she didn’t pay me to write all that LOL!  I am truly in awe of everything this girl accomplishes!

So on to the Beauty Board!

This year there were so many great brands.  Joining the Beauty Board again were Vasanti Cosmetics, Consonant Body, Dalish Cosmetics and Cheeky Monkey.  Items from Olay, Covergirl, Secret, Butter London were available for testing as well!

New to the Beauty Board was Revolution Organics, Stella and Dot, FeatherBand and I was representing Avon and Mark cosmetics!

Stephanie even organized a scavenger hunt! Those that completed it were entered into a draw for some HUGE prizes!

Oodles and oodles of swag!!!

Since I was so busy eating, bopping my head to music and talking, I failed to take a picture of the mouthwatering food prepared by Stephanie’s awesome family and of DJ Bloo who, as usual, was playing some AMAZING tunes.  If you’re in the Greater Toronto Area and are planning an event, he is your man!  (Please don’t forget to invite me!)

So who do I blame for distracting me?  Well, the reason I was so distracted at this Beauty Board was because the last time I attended the Beauty Board in November 2010 I didn’t know anyone except the friend I attended with.  Blogging and being on twitter has opened so many doors for me and I have formed so many friendships, including Stephanie.  But here is a list of the other bloggers I was catching up with:

Alicia of Funny Face Beauty
Meredith of Et Tu and You
Fiona Famous for the Product Wars Series
Anjali of Rock That Look and Gen Y: Don’t Bite
along with some other non-bloggers that I met through Stephanie! (This girl knows EVERYONE!)

And a couple people I met but feel like I’ve known for years:
Leesh of The Blarkness Chronicles whom I’ve been tweeting with for a while!
And Kat of Vodka and Soda who I randomly started talking to and we just sort of hit it off LOL!

For some odd reason, I DID NOT get to meet Donna Marie of Makeup By Donna Marie…we must have just kept crossing paths and not even realizing it!!!!

So…can you see why I had no time to take pictures?!?

All in all a huge success, and I want to thank Stephanie and her family for putting together such a great event.  It brings together beauty lovers – bloggers and non-bloggers together in a great casual and exciting environment.

My wallet however wants to BLAME Stephanie since many of the vendors had deals going on that were just too good to pass up.  (She’s also known on twitter as an enabler, so if you ever have the pleasure of meeting her in real life – you’ve been warned!)

CANNOT WAIT until the next Beauty Board!

***Don’t forget – if you’re Canadian you can enter to win a September Glymm Box!
Enter until August 31 midnight!***

  • Lip balm that changes color depending on your skin’s pH?! @winky_lux pH Lip Balm goes on clear, then transforms to a perfect color based on your skin’s pH (level of acidity). It’s so fun to see what color the balm becomes! It’s giving major mood ring vibes The formula is silky (not sticky), and the color lasts pretty well! So far, I’m impressed. Available at @shoppersbeauty @shoppersdrugmart! —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #winkylux #shoppersdrugmart #shoppersbeauty #drugstorebeauty #affordablemakeup #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfree #phlipbalm #moodring #colorchanging #lipbalm #torontopr #torontobeautybloggers
  • Nail extensions that last weeks but don’t damage your natural nails?!?! Check out the process for getting Après-X nail extensions! There aren’t many salons in Toronto that offer this service, but so far, I’m a fan! I love bio-gel, but I have the WEAKEST nails, so after I get the extensions removed, my nails shred and take forever to grow back out. I heard about this soak-off style, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself! I haven’t gotten them removed yet, but I’ll update you all when I do! ✅ durable like bio-gel ✅ light and thin ✅✅✅

  • Lately, I’ve been feeling a more subtle look. ☁️ Swapping out the black winged liner for a smidge of grey; trading in the full-coverage base for something a little softer. Not exactly sure why, but so far, I like it. ✨ Wearing @milkmakeup sunshine skin tint in light* + @uomabeauty drama bomb mascara* + @annabellecosmetics kohl eyeliner in charcoal* + @madeupbeauty_ lip conditioner in piña colada* + @lysbeautyofficial bronzer in motivate *gifted products @shoppersbeauty @natapr_ @matinee.studio @lexprcanada —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #subtlemakeup #naturalmakeup #crueltyfreemakeup #torontopr #muotd #softmakeup #everydaymakeup #affordablemakeup #thoughtfulchoicesatshoppers
