BEAUTY ROUND UP: 3 Lip Products to Try

Posted on November 21, 2013March 30, 2020 by Elaine

We can’t deny it any longer. Dry skin, especially lips are now an issue and it’s the time of year to take extra care of our skin.

My lips are always the first to suffer the impact of the change in weather. They get really chapped and flaky and applying lip colour can look awful. Here are a 3 lip products that have been in rotation for me the last few weeks and have saved my lips!

Kona-Kare-Live-Clean-Soft-Lips
There are so many lip products out there, let’s face it. But during these dry Fall months (with winter quickly approaching!) I’m looking for easy to carry products that I can reach for throughout the day.
Kona-Kare-Lip-Butter
Kona Kare was first featured on the blog by Ashley here. Since then I’ve become a HUGE fan of this company. Mikayla and Nadim are such a super sweet power couple (not to mention so, so gorgeous together) and they make amazing products. They recently re-branded and I’m loving the new luxury packaging. My favourite flavours are Chocolate Peppermint (I’m a sucker for anything mint chocolate in case you were looking to get me a gift) and Peaches and Dream. ($10 each).
Live-Clean-Lovely-Lips

I know Live Clean best for their skin care and hair products so I was surprised to hear they had a “lovely lips” line of lip balms ($4.29 each). With 3 formulas available (moisturizing, protecting and soothing) my favourite was the soothing one because it contained peppermint oil. All of these went on nice and smooth and there was no greasy feeling. Also it was super easy to apply my lipstick or gloss – or whatever I feel like applying that day. I rarely go out without some kind of lip colour on!

Soft-Lips

Soft Lips is a brand I hadn’t heard of in a while! I’m glad they’re on my radar again. I always related the slim packaging with this brand which is perfect for carrying around in tiny clutches when you’re at those holiday parties. I’m actually really loving the new watermelon flavour right now – it reminds me of summer on those days I just need a pick me up! Sunscreen is also definitely a bonus. It’s important to protect your skin (including your lips) from the sun even in the colder months. ($4.29 for a pack of 2).

Other tips to keep lips in shape are to drink a lot of water (keeps your skin hydrated in general – I’m slowly getting better at this!) and to exfoliate your lips. Right now I like to just take a soft wash cloth with me in the shower and gently rub my lips or do this when I’m washing my face at night. Follow up with one of the 3 products above and healthy lips will be yours!

What are you doing to keep your lips in tip top condition?

Two years feels like it’s gone by in an instant, and yet I can hardly remember what life was like before you came into our lives. • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
