BEAUTY ROUND-UP: Christmas GLOSSYBOX + Holiday Event Insider Access

Posted on January 14, 2013 by Elaine

Call me late to the party, but I just found out what GLOSSYBOX was at the end of last year.

I instantly fell in love with the idea and signed up immediately.

Unfamiliar with the concept? GLOSSYBOX is a monthly beauty box delivered straight to your door, for a small monthly fee. Each month provides you with 5 deluxe samples – shampoo, conditioner, body care, skin care, make-up – you name it! It’s a little box of luxury customized directly to you. Brands such as Aveeno, Biore, Curel, Covergirl, Dove, Marcelle and Oscar de la Renta, all at your fingertips.

Last month, I was invited to an exclusive holiday GLOSSYBOX event, held at the Marc Anthony studio in Toronto. I was tremendously excited to go to the event, until I ended up hurting my foot the day of, leaving me unable to walk properly (darn heels!). I’m so disappointed that I was unable to attend, but luckily, I’ve got the inside pictures to show you all!

Held in a Marc Anthony salon in Yorkville, GLOSSYBOX invited beauty enthusiasts, media and food lovers to a night of beauty, makeup and overall indulgence. The first ever GLOSSYBOX event held in the Toronto area, the event held a variety of fun items such as beauty bars, tips from the pros, and samples from some of the many GLOSSYBOX brands.
Some of the beauty stations on hand included Marcelle, Marc Anthony, and OPI professional nails. Look at the picture to the left – those are Marcelle’s new twist-up lipsticks! What a wonderful treat for the ladies!
It wasn’t just the beauty products that were indulged upon at the event. Gourmet foods were available to event goers – don’t those cupcakes look delish?
One thing that I am extremely jealous that I missed out on is the OPI nail bar. I’m in love with OPI nail products and when I heard they were going to be at the GLOSSYBOX event, I was thrilled!
Check out this amazing aerial shot of the event? Doesn’t it look amazing? The event looks packed!
Jealous of all the amazing fun you guys had at the event! Here’s hoping that I see you at the next one!

Since I wasn’t at the event, the lovely ladies of GLOSSYBOX and Tracey Brooke PR sent me the holiday gift box that was given out at the event. Here’s an exclusive peek at what was inside!
Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy: the Total Care therapy was included within the box. After trying the samples, I immediately ran out and purchased the full size equivalents! Specifically formulated to deeply nourish and moisturize the scalp, it’s one of the newer hair care lines on the market and definitely one of my favourites.

Nicole by OPI Nails: I told you that I was loving OPI nail care – thankfully, GLOSSYBOX included a festive holiday nail colour in their holiday box. Loving the glittery polish – so perfect for the holidays and New Years festivities!

Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX: a beautifully shaded blush that looks perfect for any skintone. Claims to have a fine, micronized powder with long-lasting abilities. Crossing my fingers that I’ve found my new go-to blush!

Maybelline MNY Mini Gloss: I’ve actually never seen this product before – it was a pleasant surprise! The brand was created to be ‘on-trend’ – bold and sophisticated colours with a modern flare.

Curel Hand & Cuticle Therapy: claims to sooth even the driest hands on contact! I will be putting this to the test during these winter months!

Vitabath Exfoliating Sugar Scrub: what I love the most about this is the invigorating citrus scent. Blended with sugar granules, Sunflower, Coconut, and Macadamia Seed Oils, the product is said to leave your skin baby smooth. Yummy!

Again, a big thanks goes out the generosity of Tracey Brooke PR and GLOSSYBOX for acknowledging my absence and making sure I was included in the luxury regardless.

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
