BEAUTY ROUND UP: Curly Hair must haves!

Posted on May 24, 2013March 30, 2020 by Elaine

I have said it many times – my curly hair has a life of it’s own! It’s something I think that only other curly haired girls can relate to but perhaps wavy haired or ladies with thick unruly hair can relate as well 🙂

I am always switching up my hair products. I have heard that you should do this as your hair gets “used” to the products. I don’t know if there is any scientific truth to this but I do feel like my hair is better when changing out products every now and then.

So for this post I will go through what I have been using lately and why I am happy with my current routine!

Beautysets - My Curly Hair Essentials
My Curly Hair Essentialswith Marc Anthony, Redken, TRESemmé
TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner: I am loving both the shampoo and conditioner. I need so little shampoo to get my hair clean (I’m trying not to shampoo everyday even if I wet my hair daily!) and the conditioner really leaves my hair feeling silky and more manageable. Curly hair is quite dry naturally and I feel like my hair can retain more moisture and is less frizzy since I have been using these products.Redken Curvaceous Curl Dive: So this is a hair mask. You are supposed to leave it in for 5 – 15 minute then rinse. I love this stuff so much I use a little everyday as a leave in conditioner! It just keeps my hair hydrated and my curls are super soft. Not to mention styling is easier!

Redken Curvaceous Ringlet: On an everyday basis I reach for this curl lotion. You don’t need much and it easily distributes. Most mornings I just flip my head upside down and “scrunch” my curls up. Then I either air dry or use a diffuser. The result is bouncy and soft (never crunchy!) curls.

Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Lotion + Stretch: One of Marc Anthony’s most popular products is the Strictly Curls Lotion. I really like this product but I find if I use too much my hair can dry to have a crunch to it – so use less than you think you need! I’m actually loving it combined with their newest curl product “Stretch” which is great for girls with really tight curls. I have looser curls than some ladies but I like how this product relaxes the curls a bit. The curls are still there but you don’t have as much volume; curls are defined but hair looks longer.

Fellow curly haired people – have you tried any of these products out? What are your go to products of the moment?

  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
