I know my skin gets really dry and itchy in the winter months. I’m covered up in more layers and constant hand washing has my knuckles hurting. Remember this post where I talked about my love of body oils? Well I still love them and I swear by them for keeping skin smooth especially in the colder months. One of the body oils mentioned in that post is from Weleda. I didn’t know at the time but they also have a body wash and they recently sent me their hand cream!
I’m kind of picky when it comes to hand creams. I hate the greasy residue that most leave because I’m always reaching for my phone soon after or I’m on the computer and having greasy hands is just uncomfortable. This stuff was great, it was was really light and absorbed really quickly into my skin. It contains a combination of Seabuckthorn Oil and Sesame Oil – I love the smell too, nice and citrusy – but the natural citrus smell due to the essential oils of orange and mandarin – not that candy like citrus smell. As a bonus for the holiday season it comes with a pair of moisturizing gloves which is perfect for restoring your skin’s moisture overnight.
Another product I recently had the chance to try was George’s Cream (warning, if you’re at work turn your speakers down before clicking on the their website!).
I’ve never heard of them before but they are a Canadian company out of Calgary and the product was developed by pharmacist George Doherty to combat dry skin problems. Their tagline is simply “It Works”. And you know what, it really does!
I don’t have SUPER dry skin but I remember in my lab days constantly washing my hands and wearing gloves did a number on your hands. Now I moisturize more often in general so my hands aren’t too bad although I can’t say the same for my cuticles.
Ahh Cetaphil, you know I’ve used their face wash but never their lotions! I’ll look into that one, thanks!
Yeah I agree, I have so many brands of lotions and I’m always changing in between 🙂
I just use Cetaphil. But I apply it right after my shower as the skin is more supple and it absorbs easily.
I’ve been using Aveeno a lot these days cause it helps with dry skin and itchiness too. But I love to try out new things so might have to look into these as well. It is always good to have lotion around the house 🙂
I hate dry skin. This is really helpful. Thanks Elaine. Did I ever add you to my blogroll since you switched? I’m going to go check 🙂
Ooh interesting and you just got them! I’ll check them out although the greasy part doesn’t sound fun, but yeah my cuticles are a mess!
Thanks for the comment Yonka!
Thank you Heather!!! All credit for the blog design goes to Kimmie of Blue Paper Lanterns. There’s no WAY I could do this myself 😛
That’s amazing you found something that works for your daughter! Eczema is such a pain, I have a friend that will have such painful cuts on her hands – in the winter months she has band aids on pratically all her knuckles :(. I totally agree about moisturizing AS SOON as you get out of the shower. When I have time I usually apply body oil first then lotion on top!
i’ve been using my body butters from Froosh and they’re amazing! they’re rich and a tad on the greasy side but they WORK. my cuticles are a mess and since i started using this product, no more messy cuticles and my feet are getting softer.
Oh ! its superb blog i was searching for this type of site. Your product Weleda and that is from 1921, So from this we can guess how effective it will be. And as it is 90 year before product means it must be prepared by natural item..Yonka
First of all, love your new blog design 🙂 I have discovered that using Aveeno eczema cream is great for winter dry skin. My youngest daughter has eczema so I just tried it one time and it worked! Also, if you moisturize immediately after showering it seems to absorb into the skin better. Heather
