Entry for Kileen’s Color Brigrade

Posted on February 15, 2011 by Elaine
This will likely be my one and only entry into Kileen’s Color Brigrade 😛 Haven’t heard of it? Well definitely check out Kileen’s blog Cute and Little!  I love doing the Petite Fashion Challenges but long term challenges I have trouble with.
It’s really strange that I LOVE colour but the majority of my wardrobe is different shades of grey!
This is an outfit I wore a while ago (it’s been too cold lately to wear something like this although it was quite a bit warmer today).

 Cardigan:  Gap XS
Dress:  Old Navy XS
Belt:  Winners
Tights:  Winners

The three colours I’m using are Mustard, Brown and Floral Print.

When I first held these items up I wasn’t sure if they went together or not.  I have to admit I felt so girly and flirty in this outfit! I will definitely be wearing this one again soon if the weather co-operates.
So I hope this will qualify me for the Color Brigade! Check out all the other participants as well 🙂
(P.S. it was really strange for me to spell “colour” as “color” LOL)

Love the color of the sweater, & as a few have already mentioned, I think they go great together!

Great outfit! I love this dress/cardigan combo. I’m very into dress cardi combos these days although I’m finding that my cardigans and dresses are a bit blah. I definitely need some COLOUR this spring:)

@kileen Thanks for hosting the colour (errrr ) Color Brigade 😉 It’s a fabulous idea and I do hope it will get easier with Spring coming!

@Melissa You always make me smile M 🙂

@Erin It’s just so normal for me to spell it “colour”; “color” looks so strange to me 😛

@PetiteLittleGirl Oh I hear you! I’m almost always in some shade of grey 😉

@The Little Dust Princess Ya, not sure about the next PFC, I think Tiny in Texas is MIA!

@Ping Thanks Ping! Definitely nice to feel extra girly every once in a while.

@Elle That’s true, brighter colours definitely stand out agains the grey and gloomy background of Winter.

@Really Petite Thanks Annie! Hopefully it will get easier for me to put outfits like this together

@AubreyOhDang! Heehee, that was kind of a fluke, I was being silly but I thought it came out ok 😉

@Fashion Therapist The 30×30 completely scares me although I have a feeling that without thinking about it I’m always wearing the same pieces over and over again 😉 I admire all you bloggers that commit to this challenge!

@Mimi All the more reason to play with colour! I’m going to assume Manhattan is similar to Toronto in terms of weather and atmosphere.

@Sherri @ Design2Shine Thanks Sherri! I know it was definitely something different for me…TRUST me this was NOT effortless 😉

Winners is Canadian! Sorry I should have mentioned that. I think it’s similar to TJMaxx or Marshall’s in the US. A place that carries discounted brand name items 🙂

I love the color combo! Of course, I wouldn’t have come up with it. LOL I tend to stay ‘safe’. Working on that tho! It’s why I am playing along on this color mix. Very flattering outfit.

Great thing to participate in and it really is perfect for the Color Brigade. If you’re up to it, definitely try the 30 for 30 the next go round. I always thought it would be the toughest thing, but I’m learning a lot about myself by doing it.

GREAT use of colours! Mustard is so amazing (the colour, not the condiment…although that’s okay too!) Love how you paired it with floral and the belt ties it all together 🙂

I really like that belt. I saw a similar one at Express, but the smallest size was still a little too big.
I’ve never heard of Winners. Am going to have to Google it now…

I love your mustard cardigan. I am still hunting for one. I told Kileen that once I have enough of colored pieces in my closet, I’ll join the fun. I have nothing but black and grey items in my closet. So boring, I know!

I adore your belt! I’ve been looking for a wide waisted belt that doesn’t fall off my frame or take up my entire torso. I’ve never heard of Winners before but definitely tried Urban Outfitters and that totally was a bust.
