FEATURED: Get Gelled Manicure Bar

Posted on February 6, 2013March 30, 2020 by Elaine
A few weeks back I was invited to check out a fairly new manicure bar called Get Gelled.
  Get Gelled

Now, I’ll be honest with you. I’m not into nail art. I can appreciate that it takes a lot time, talent and effort but for a girl that only a few years back was able to wear red on my nails (I was always, always a light pink kind of girl – throw in a little bit a sparkle to be daring) nail art just isn’t for me.
BUT since Get Gelled and owner Sun is known for her nail art I had to do something a little more daring. She was great though, completely understood my concerns and didn’t push. She thought maybe a pretty gradation in a neutral colour would be nice so I happily agreed.

Located in near the Yonge and Bloor area (South of Bloor) Get Gelled manicure bar sits among a cute little neighborhood mix of residential townhomes and boutiques.
I absolutely loved the space and the vibe of the place.

Sun first started with a clear coat on my nails – after each coat my nails cured under a UV lamp. The next coat was the lighter colour. It came in a pot and looked a lot like cream eye shadow to me! She even applied it very skillfully with a brush! After curing again the next step was the darker shade. She also convinced me to try out two little “pearls” on my ring fingers.

That’s about as daring as I was willing to get LOL! So strange considering I’ve actually done things like sky diving and flying in an open cockpit plane…but yeah…bling on the nails is just too much for me 😛
I really loved the gradation finish on the nails. It’s very subtle but pretty. I could never get used to the pearl though. I would forget and think that I had something stuck to my nails haha! But other than that, I had a really great experience at Get Gelled. Sun and Victoria who contacted me were such great hosts. We had a great time chatting which makes the experience that much better!

Manicures and pedicures are of course offered but they also do waxing and eyelash extensions.

Right now, they’re having a fantastic promotion.

Get Gelled
30% off any service! Plus the cuticle oil is fantastic, complete with little babies breath inside!

Take advantage of the promotion and visit them soon! We could all use a little pampering in these gloomy months right?

  • Nail extensions that last weeks but don’t damage your natural nails?!?! Check out the process for getting Après-X nail extensions! There aren’t many salons in Toronto that offer this service, but so far, I’m a fan! I love bio-gel, but I have the WEAKEST nails, so after I get the extensions removed, my nails shred and take forever to grow back out. I heard about this soak-off style, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself! I haven’t gotten them removed yet, but I’ll update you all when I do! ✅ durable like bio-gel ✅ light and thin ✅✅✅
  • The big reveal!!! TL;DR - removal was painless and left my nails in a WAYYYY better state than with dip or bio-gel removal I did still have some trouble with the ends being thin (defs needed to trim the length so they wouldn’t rip ), but the rest of the nail bed was so much more comfortable and healthy-looking than when I’ve had other long-wear manis removed ✅ All in all, I’d say I’m definitely an Après-X convert! Especially as someone who doesn’t want to get a mani every month, this is perfect for special occasions. The nails were really
  • Lip balm that changes color depending on your skin’s pH?! @winky_lux pH Lip Balm goes on clear, then transforms to a perfect color based on your skin’s pH (level of acidity). It’s so fun to see what color the balm becomes! It’s giving major mood ring vibes The formula is silky (not sticky), and the color lasts pretty well! So far, I’m impressed.
