Glossy Box Review

Posted on February 27, 2012 by Elaine
***US and Canadian readers, don’t forget to enter my LOVE THANN giveaway! Ends February 29th!****

So the popularity of the “beauty box” is definitely in full force. The newest one to arrive in Canada is GLOSSYBOX which was founded in Germany and is making its way to more than 20 countries this year.

Like the other boxes, GLOSSYBOX will send members a box of 5 beauty items each month for $15 (including shipping) and to keep the experience “exciting” a wildcard surprise item may be sent at any time.

I received my February GLOSSYBOX and here are the pictures I took:

The products:
Essie Nail Polish in “Neo Whimsical”
Oscar De La Renta “Live In Love” Body Lotion
Beauty So Clean Sanitizing Wipes and Mist
Elizabeth Grant Skincare Moisturizing Stick
Ahava Mineral Hand Cream
Elizabeth Arden Prevage Night Cream

Like the other companies you can create an online personal beauty profile which will help the company to tailor the box to your individual needs.
I was most excited to receive the Essie nail polish since nail polish isn’t a product I splurge on and also the Beauty So Clean samples since I have not tried this product out before but have heard buzz about them through the beauty blogger scene.
While I love the idea of these beauty boxes I’m personally getting a bit overwhelmed by them. It can be really difficult to figure out which box is right for you as they are all quite similar but of course have different products.  My advice would be to research and see what other people have received in all the different boxes over the last few months. Check which brands each box offers on their website too and choose the ones associated with brands that appeal to you.  I always want to know if the brands are also easily accessible either through the beauty box site or by other means. After all there’s no point in falling in love with a product only to find you can’t purchase it later!
As a beauty blogger I’m privileged to be able to try out new products all the time which is why I haven’t personally signed up for any of these boxes.  I do however think they make a really nice and thoughtful gift for any of the women in your lives that aren’t beauty junkies but still love to receive something special in the mail and like to try out new products.
You can interact with GLOSSYBOX on  Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Also be sure to check out the “GLOSSYTHOUGHTS” blog on their website.

What are your thoughts on the beauty boxes?  Love them? Over them?

  • Sometimes I wear makeup (most days it’s only on the part of my face that isn’t covered by my mask though) Wearing assorted things, including: #QuoBeauty Love is Love palette* @shoppersdrugmart @lorealparis Frame & Set Brow Stylist in Medium Brown @cheekbonebeauty Sustain complexion pencils* @watierofficial Love My Lips Caring Lip Oil in Rosehip* @cbvisage lip liner in Rescue Me *Products kindly gifted —————————————————————————— #mytbrfave #torontobeautyreviews #tbrcontributors #torontopr #watier #shoppersdrugmart #drugstoremakeup #crueltyfreemakeup #affordablemakeup #cleanmakeup #easymakeup #muotd #makeupdaily #colourfulmakeup #madeincanada
  • I love puzzles - especially word and math games - and KenKens are one of my faves! I’ve been completing a LOT of these over the holiday. Such a fun way to take a break from screens and challenge your brain ➡️ Screenshot the blank board to play along with me! (No cheating! ) ⏱️How long did it take you to solve the puzzle? This was one of my fastest (1:35), but I average around 3 mins. Once the grid grows to 7x7, however, I take MUUUUCH longer —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #torontopr #torontoblogger #nerdlife #kenken #brainteaser #math #puzzle #holiday #winterbreak #boredombuster
  • ✨ REST IS PRODUCTIVE ✨ @adam__malek got me this sticker for Christmas, and I genuinely cried when I saw it. I need the reminder. The idea that productivity = self-worth is so damaging, and one that is often marketed heavily in the new year. I struggle with the “I haven’t been busy enough to deserve a rest - guess I’ll just take on too many projects and then revenge procrastinate because of burnout and get no sleep, then scramble and feel like I need to do even more!” cycle. I feel compelled to list everything I’ve done on the weekend
  • Happy NYE, folks! For those who had a great 2022, cheers a fab end to a fab year. To those for whom 2022 was not so great - toast to a new beginning! Either way, hopefully you’re able to find a moment for gratitude and comfort tonight. ✨❤️ Wearing: @ardellbeauty Magnetic Megahold lashes* @cheekbonebeauty Sustain complexion pencils* 1, 2, and 6 + Sustain eye pencil in green turquoise @lorealparis Brow Stylist Frame & Set in 214 @cbvisage lipliner in Rescue Me *Products kindly gifted —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #ardellholiday #cheekbonebeauty #crueltyfreemakeup #carylbakervisage #redhead #torontopr #torontomakeup #nyemakeup #holidaymakeup #simpleglam #tbrcontributors #bye2022
  • This is a long video, and a change from our typical content, but it’s something I really wanted to hear your thoughts on. Did this sports team miss an opportunity? Was my student’s question too tough or unrealistic? We still had lots of fun at the pep rally, but the rewording of this question really bugged me. Is “follow your dreams” a satisfying answer in this case? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #womeninsports #feminist #sexism #aagpbl #domore #mlb #sexisminsport #likeagirl #femaleathlete #foodforthought #bluejays #tbjwintertour #torontobluejays
