Holistic Vanity Rosacea Care Line has Officially Launched!

Posted on February 17, 2012March 4, 2014 by Elaine

If you recall this post the Holistic Vanity Rosacea Care Line launched on February 8th! The entire product line has been available since the start of February but the launch party was held at the Bata Shoe Museum where guests were treated to yummy anti inflammatory hors d’oeuvres by Bill Nguyen and drinks by David’s Tea.

The Holistic Vanity Rosacea Care Line was on display for guests to sample.

The line consists of 5 products:

Calming Aloe Kumari Cleanser: an anti-inflammatory cleansing milk to gently wash away impurities while infusing skin with moisture.

Anti-Inflam Calendula Skin Tonic: a potent tonic formulated to soothe irritation and strengthen skin. The calendula flower calms skin due to inflamed breakouts and reactions. This particular tonic is available in limited quantities as the calendula flower is harvested seasonally.

Healing Immortelle Skin Tonic: this tonic is anti-inflammatory and rejuvenating designed to renew and restore healthy skin. As well, it repairs free radical damage and stimulate cellular regeneration.

Soothing Pomegranate Lotion: pomegranate seed extract stimulates the skin to self repair and regenerate while soothing and healing making this moisturizer excellent for nourishing fragile skin.

Comforting Camellia Oil: blended with camellia and turmeric oil this oil protects sensitive and rosacea prone skin types. It should be used year round to restore skin’s healthy barrier function.

I’ll get into more about the products in a future post along with a review of some of the products.

The highlight of the evening was a talk given by Kristen Ma, creator of the line:  “Stop Seeing Red: How to heal Rosacea and Sensitive Skin holistically” where she touched on really interesting points, such as the fact that there are many forms of sensitive skin. Blemishes, stress response (blushing, turning red when angry etc) rosacea and overactive circulation are all signs.

Also that when we see red it means STOP! If skin is red due to a a new product for example, it’s an indication that your skin isn’t happy and you should stop what you’re doing.

As well, perhaps you’re really stressed and you feel the blood boiling in you, you become flushed and perhaps blotchy. That is also a sign to stop, take a moment and breathe!

Excellent advice and so interesting that we sometimes put ourselves through unnecessary stress whether internal or external and something as simple as “stopping” can really help!

Rosacea is an extreme form of skin sensitivity often appearing as flushed, reddened skin with dilated and broken capillaries. It can become more inflamed over time. Rosacea is becoming more and more common due to the greater exposure we have to things like pollution, sun and stress. To treat rosacea gentle and calming skincare must be used along with an anti-inflammatory life style and a proper diet.

Moving on to the event venue, since it was held at the Bata Shoe Museum guests were allowed to see all the pretty shoes too 🙂

I had never been there myself – it was much smaller than I had expected but it was fun to see all the shoes on display!

And here’s my outfit – thanks to Arianne for snapping these for me!

Blazer: H&M size 4
Dress: Ann Taylor
Sweater: Old Navy XS
Belt: H&M XS
Shoes: Nine West size 7
Purse: Coach

I wanted to dress up for this fun event but I was also going straight from work which is a more casual environment so I thought to try and dress down the dress with a sweater from Old Navy! And of course I threw on a blazer because I almost always wear a blazer or a cardigan.  I also thought that wearing these earth tone colours would make the dress more appropriate for cooler weather.

And of course I had to get a picture with the smoking hot Kristen in her amazing outfit! (She’s much taller than I expected too! 😛 )

I was so excited to FINALLY get to meet Kristen Ma in person! I really, really admire this lady for all she has accomplished as the co-owner of the popular holistic spas, Pure + Simple and the author of Beauty, Pure and Simple. She is so knowledgeable and I always look to her for beauty and health advice. She is so nice and down to earth in person, exactly like her online personality! Blogging and social media has taught me that people’s personalities in real life aren’t necessarily the same as their online personas 😉  Not to mention she’s GORGEOUS! Living a holistic lifestyle obviously has not only health benefits but beauty benefits too, Kristen is proof of that.  Although I’m sure good genes also play a role, I didn’t get to meet her but I saw Kristen’s mom Jean in the crowd and she is stunning!

This was a fabulous night out. Full of amazing food, great information, exciting new products and fabulous people! Loved seeing fellow bloggers Meredith and Arianne and meeting new faces such as Kristen, Hannah of David’s Tea, Laura, Joy and Elaine (another Elaine!)

  • This is a long video, and a change from our typical content, but it’s something I really wanted to hear your thoughts on. Did this sports team miss an opportunity? Was my student’s question too tough or unrealistic? We still had lots of fun at the pep rally, but the rewording of this question really bugged me. Is “follow your dreams” a satisfying answer in this case? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #womeninsports #feminist #sexism #aagpbl #domore #mlb #sexisminsport #likeagirl #femaleathlete #foodforthought #bluejays #tbjwintertour #torontobluejays

  • Happy NYE, folks! For those who had a great 2022, cheers a fab end to a fab year. To those for whom 2022 was not so great - toast to a new beginning! • ✨ REST IS PRODUCTIVE ✨ @adam__malek got me this sticker for Christmas, and I genuinely cried when I saw it. I need the reminder. The idea that productivity = self-worth is so damaging, and one that is often marketed heavily in the new year. I struggle with the “I haven’t been busy enough to deserve a rest - guess I’ll just take on too many projects and then revenge procrastinate because of burnout and get no sleep, then scramble and feel like I need to do even more!” cycle. I feel compelled to list everything I’ve done on the weekend
