Introducing Ashley!

Posted on April 24, 2012 by Elaine

So it’s no mystery that I’ve been a bad blogger this year 🙁 with so much personal stuff on the go and trying to figure out some health stuff too I’ve been a bit overwhelmed! Luckily my friend Ashley has graciously agreed to help me out with some reviews by becoming a contributor to Toronto Beauty Reviews! Ash is one of those gorgeous girls that stands out in a crowd in a good way – she’s actually pretty quiet and soft spoken but I’ve always admired her sense of style and I was so happy when she agreed to help me out! So here is a little profile on Ashley which will also be included into a “Contributors” page on the blog. Look for reviews by Ashley very soon!

Hello all! My name is Ashley, and I’m a suburban-based, twenty-something year old who adores all types of beauty products. I’ve always single-handedly taken it upon myself to pursue all avenues of beauty products – the new and the classic, the cheap and the expensive, and the innovative and unique. Now, the lovely Elaine has given me the opportunity to share my thoughts and views with all of you!

This is my first venture into the ‘blogging’ environment – be gentle! I’ve always loved to write, and I’m hoping that this provides the perfect avenue to merge both of my loves. Personally, I know that beauty product reviews differ from person to person – these are my reviews and opinions, and just that. I don’t claim to be a professional, but I have tried enough beauty products to know the difference!

Now, onto my personal stats:

Skin: As a teenager, I was blessed with good genetics – my skin flared up less normally than the average teenager. It’s a blessing that has followed me into adulthood. I can’t say I’ve ever ‘suffered’ from acne, the odd flare-up is totally normally in my universe. In terms of complex, my skin is incredibly fair, and in relation, incredibly sensitive. My current skincare routine consists of extreme moisturization (i.e. night cream during the day? Trust me, it works!), consistent exfoliation and light anti-wrinkle creams.

Hair: Ah, hair – an area in where I am less blessed. My hair has a mind of it’s own – it does what it wants, when it wants. In order for it to cooperate, it requires maintenance – hair drying, anti-frizz, and either a curling or straightening iron. Leaving it to air dry leaves me susceptible to the uncontrollable world of ‘wavy’ hair. In terms of products, I’ve found a deep moisturizing shampoo and conditioner are the best avenue to manageability. In terms of colour, with the exception of a one-year juncture into the brunette lifestyle, I can gladly state that I’m a natural dark, dirty blonde.

Size: I stand a lovely 5’4 inches tall. My small stature is mostly exaggerated through my love of all things heels. I tend to wear the smaller sizes when shopping, with the occasional size up if it would be deemed more comfortable.
I look forward to talking to you all!

  • Lip balm that changes color depending on your skin’s pH?! @winky_lux pH Lip Balm goes on clear, then transforms to a perfect color based on your skin’s pH (level of acidity). It’s so fun to see what color the balm becomes! It’s giving major mood ring vibes The formula is silky (not sticky), and the color lasts pretty well! So far, I’m impressed. Available at @shoppersbeauty @shoppersdrugmart! —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #winkylux #shoppersdrugmart #shoppersbeauty #drugstorebeauty #affordablemakeup #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfree #phlipbalm #moodring #colorchanging #lipbalm #torontopr #torontobeautybloggers
  • Nail extensions that last weeks but don’t damage your natural nails?!?! Check out the process for getting Après-X nail extensions! There aren’t many salons in Toronto that offer this service, but so far, I’m a fan! I love bio-gel, but I have the WEAKEST nails, so after I get the extensions removed, my nails shred and take forever to grow back out. I heard about this soak-off style, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself! I haven’t gotten them removed yet, but I’ll update you all when I do! ✅ durable like bio-gel ✅ light and thin ✅✅✅
  • Thoughtful Choices at @shoppersdrugmart makes it easy to find products that you AND the Earth will love! • Lately, I’ve been feeling a more subtle look. ☁️ Swapping out the black winged liner for a smidge of grey; trading in the full-coverage base for something a little softer. Not exactly sure why, but so far, I like it. ✨ Wearing @milkmakeup sunshine skin tint in light* + @uomabeauty drama bomb mascara* + @annabellecosmetics kohl eyeliner in charcoal* + @madeupbeauty_ lip conditioner in piña colada* + @lysbeautyofficial bronzer in motivate *gifted products @shoppersbeauty @natapr_ @matinee.studio @lexprcanada —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #subtlemakeup #naturalmakeup #crueltyfreemakeup #torontopr #muotd #softmakeup #everydaymakeup #affordablemakeup #thoughtfulchoicesatshoppers
  • In case you haven’t heard (lol), it’s the @sephoracanada sale! A perfect time to explore new products - here are three of my top picks! @danessa_myricks @lysbeautyofficial @patmcgrathreal For more info on why I love each of these brands, check out my post about Black-Owned Beauty Brands on the blog! —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #sephorasale #blackownedbeauty #danessamyricks #yummyskin #patmcgrathlabs #lysbeauty #luxurybeauty #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #bloggersofontario #beautywishlist #sephoravib #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors
