L’Oreal Luminato Event

Posted on June 20, 2011 by Elaine

Last weekend I was excited to be able to check out the annual Luminato event in Toronto and to have an one-on-one expert beauty consultation courtesy of  L’Oreal Paris.

I had just stepped off a plane the night before and to be honest I was thinking about cancelling, but I just couldn’t pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity to have my hair done by L’Oreal’s Official Hair Artist and Colourist, Eric Del Monaco and my makeup done by the Official Make-up Artist for L’Oréal Paris, Eddie Malter…and seriously I’m sooo glad I went!

Since it was so last minute I went by myself when normally I would recruit a friend to go with me. Sometimes I get intimidated at events since I’m just a normal person…! But Margaret of Cowen and Company who emailed me the invite was so welcoming and made me feel right at home!

I was early for my appointment (LOL – I’m usually always early – I don’t know the meaning of “fashionably” late) so I sat in the waiting area where I got to observe a whole bunch of other beautiful ladies getting all glammed up.

I asked this gorgeous girl who just had her hair and makeup done if I could snap her photo and she graciously obliged!

Alisha
(Love the whole look! Makeup, outfit and hair – perfection!)

And guess who I ran into, look absolutely STUNNING after her hair and makeup:

Tess of Make up by Tess
(This girl ALWAYS looks amazing!)

After seeing Alisha and Tess, I was so excited when my turn finally came!  Here is the only “before” shot I got of myself – and quite unflattering I might add as Eddie and I were in the midst of some serious talks 😉

Tess managed to take a picture of me waiting for Eddie to get all his tools ready.

One of the highlights of the day was BEFORE Eddie even started doing my makeup! He took a look at my eye makeup and asked if I did it myself (which I did) and he said I did a really good job! Seriously, that is a HUGE compliment ESPECIALLY coming from Eddie Malter!!!!!

Margaret was so kind to help me take photos of my transformation!  Another downfall to attending these events alone – no one to take blog pictures for me.  But Margaret did a fantastic job 🙂

Here’s Eddie completing my eyes with the new L’Oreal Paris mascara set to hit stores in the Fall.

On to the cheeks:

Eddie, carefully inspecting his work:

And the finishing touch to the lips:

And my final makeup look and picture with Eddie:

You can find more on Eddie Malter on facebook on twitter and really if you just google his name (google Eddie Malterre too – one in the same) a ton of stuff will pop up!

I was next to get my hair done but Tess had to leave so I made sure to get a picture with her too!

On to my hair!
Eric asked me if he could do an updo and I’m all game when it comes to anything hair and makeup – it was Eric Del Monaco – short of shaving my head I think I would have let him do ANYTHING to my hair! 😛  He said he was really excited to try out the New Silk & Gloss Curling Spritz on me since I was the only one so far to come see him with naturally curly hair in it’s natural state.

IMG_2544

I loved the height Eric was giving me – helped to minimize my “five-head” (get it, my forehead is large so it’s a five-head…yes I know, I’m not a comedian)!

IMG_2545

It’s really hard to see the back but I love how he just worked with my natural curls for a messy and natural looking but really elegant updo!

IMG_2546

The finishing touch to my hair – Eric using New Elnett Unfragranced Hairspray in Strong Hold which should be out this month.

IMG_2549

And my final look with Eric – hey look we even dressed the same! LOL!

IMG_2550

Eric Del Monaco is a super busy man!  You can find him at his salon Del Monaco Hair Studio, on Facebook and on twitter.  Of course googling him will also result in a bunch of hits!

I also just HAD to take a picture with the lovely Margaret who was such a great host and who I am grateful to for taking all these pictures! We also grabbed the new communications director for L’Oreal Paris – Hugo Thibault to be in the photo with us:

And…I wasn’t going anywhere special that night just dinner with the family so I took some pictures of myself in the car on the way hahaha! (Don’t worry, husband was driving!)

IMG_2561

Seriously…look how flawless Eddie made my skin look!

IMG_2565

Sorry…I’m almost done! I few hair shots that I took from home – don’t mind the mess in the background – we had an overnight guest!

Ok, phew – now I’m done!!!!!  A HUGE thank you to Margaret of Cowan and Company for the invite and for making all this happen.  And of course to Eddie Malter and Eric Del Monaco I hope to meet you both and be lucky enough to have you work your magic on me again 😉

Be sure to check out the L’Oreal Paris Canada Facebook page for more great makeover photos.

(PS – The last day to enter the Summer Beauty Tour is Tuesday June 21st at midnight EST!)

  • Been a bit busy lately I’m overwhelmed with love and gratitude - we feel so lucky to have had such an amazing celebration! Took us a decade, but it was definitely worth the wait! A few folks to thank: @alexa.studios is an angel on this earth and an incredibly talented photographer who managed to capture our essence and make us look fabulous @karinalemkeweddings helped us plan a beautiful, colorful, and intimate event, handling all the last-minute drama so I could just relax and enjoy myself @themarryinglady created a ceremony with the perfect vibe for us: romantic and silly and heartfelt
  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
