mark holiday limited edition palettes part 1

Posted on November 4, 2010March 30, 2020 by Elaine

Some people aren’t familiar with the mark line by Avon.   It’s a younger, trendier line by Avon.  In the US mark has its own website and essentially its own Brand.  You can be a mark representative but not necessarily an Avon representative.  In Canada being an Avon rep means you can also sell mark.   But there is no system set up to sell exclusively mark products.

With spokespeople like Lauren Conrad, Jordin Sparks and now Ashley Greene, mark is definitely making a name for itself.

I purchased two of the limited edition holiday palettes recently.  I have a lot of pictures so I will do the review in 2 parts.

For part 1 I have up the mark On the Dot Color Compact

I LOVE the colours in this palette.  “Pay off” is a term I learned at my very short stint at a cosmetic manufacturing company.   It refers to the amount of colour that appears on the skin for the amount of colour used.  If something has great pay off is it likely highly pigmented and you will only need to use a small amount to see colour.  For something with low or little pay off you would need to apply a lot of product to see any colour.

This palette is more expensive than some of the Avon palettes at $18 but for all the great colours you get and they pay off of each I think it’s definitely worth it.  It will be fun to play around with it to create neutral looks for every day and dramatic looks for the holidays.

I’ve been mostly using the 3 colours from top to bottom on the left side of the palette to create a kind of neutral smoky eye.

Here are some pictures of how I used this palette.

I used the middle bronzy colour pretty much all over my eyelid and blended it into my crease.   How do I find my crease?  I kind of use my eyeball as a guide LOL!

I swept the lightest colour under my brow bone to highlight it.

I then took a SMALL amount of the darkest colour and added to the outer corner of my eyes and blended it into the crease for some definition.

Finished off with eyeliner and mascara.

The finished look!   The light in the room was changing as I was taking photos so the last one turned out really dark.   But you can see that even though it looks like I applied a lot of colour to my eyes it’s quite wearable.  I will be getting a new camera soon so hopefully I will be able to include better pictures in the future.

Please let me know what you would like to see more of on this blog?  If you have a specific product you would like me to review (doesn’t have to be Avon!) let me know!  And if you have a product you love and would like to share your thoughts let me know and you could write a post for me!

  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
