Moon Apparel and Online Shopping at The Bay

Posted on November 2, 2011 by Elaine

I had my first online shopping experience with The Bay (a Canadian Department store) recently and I was very impressed! My only regret is not posting this sooner as the items I bought are sold out :(.  I made my purchases before I went on vacation and just didn’t have the time to take decent pictures and get a post up so I apologize!

I didn’t even realize that I could shop online at The Bay (how long has the site been up, anyone know?) when I saw this post from Sharon of The Backseat Stylers.  Isn’t her dress just GORGEOUS?  I had to have it.

Here’s how it looks on me (unstyled, just thrown on!)

Pretty great fit don’t you think?
And it’s not petite sizing but I think the length is perfect and even better the arm holes fit too!

I was VERY happy to learn that with an HBC credit card (HBC stands for Hudson’s Bay Company) shipping is FREE for purchases over $45 from most departments and free ship is available from the beauty deparment for purchases over $29. For those familiar with the points program you also earn HBC points.
Shipping was super fast too.  I placed my order on a Thursday morning and it was delivered Friday! I wasn’t home at the time of delivery so I had to pick it up on the Saturday.

After I bought this dress Sharon Tweeted me a few days later letting me know that the dress was on sale!  I emailed The Bay Customer service to see if I could get a price adjustment automatically or if I had to bring it back to a store.  The next week I received an email telling me that my price adjustment was processed!  Excellent customer service!

When I saw that the dress was on sale I noticed a bunch of other pieces were on sale too.  So I took advantage and ordered the crochet lace pencil skirt and a pair of pants too.

I absolutely LOVE the fit of this skirt, I’m so glad I purchased it!  Here is it from different angles.

Look how pretty the crochet lace is up close.

I’m in the market for a pair of dress pants so I thought I would give the Moon Apparel ones a try.   Of course I expected them to be long on me.

The fit on these are actually quite good! And the length just needs to be taken up a bit, so for ladies that are MUCH taller than me (I’m 5’1″ and something) these might be too short for you.

So it was quite the successful shopping experience I must say.  The Bay online store is really easy to shop.  Probably easier than going into a department store as many don’t carry a lot of stock and I can’t search for things by category only by brand.  Online it’s easy to do an online search for something like “coats” and all the available coats from every brand will pop up!  I also love the minimum order amount for free ship and the return policy (just take return to the nearest Bay location).

On top of that I’m really excited to find Moon Apparel.  I have heard of them before but to be honest didn’t pay much attention.  After my purchases I did a bit of research and discovered that Moon Apparel is part of the Mimran Group – think Club Monaco and Joe Fresh.

You can bet I’ll be adding more Moon Apparel items to my wardrobe in the future!

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
