My current miracle products

Posted on August 24, 2012March 30, 2020 by Elaine

You know when you stumble upon a product that you love but then realize you love it even more because by some fluke you discover that it does more than you expected it to?

I had that happen to me TWICE this summer!

The first one I discovered while on vacation. I missed a part of my neck with sunscreen and was greeted with super red skin that was sensitive to the touch – if I rubbed up against it by accident would swell up. We were in Miami at the time staying at a lovely Trump Hotel in North Beach so I ran across the street to the CVS to pick up some aloe.

That stuff DID NOT work. In fact I think it made it worse. It made my skin feel itchy and irritated – but of course it did – there was alcohol in it! I was desparate and determined not to let this skin flare up ruin my vacation. I realized I was smart enough to pack my Pure + Simple cucumber mask so I applied it to my neck overnight hoping it would just soothe the irritation so I could get through the night without scratching.

The next day the redness was COMPLETELY GONE and my skin was smooth again!!! It was still a little bit sensitive to the touch so I continued to apply the cucumber mask and stayed out of the sun for a couple days. Seriously guys, miracle worker!
The next product I was hesitant to use at first because it’s a face oil. I know that oils aren’t bad for your skin – it took me a long time to wrap my head around that one. But I’m still really hesitant as to what types of oil I should use. When I received this Almond Soothing Facial Oil from Weleda I only used it sparingly and occasionally.

Well, one morning I woke up and discovered I had horns. Yes horns! You know, those really deep pimples that have a life of their own? Well two of them cropped up on my forehead and when I turned to the side they looked like horns! It was really quite ridiculous. I didn’t know what to do – my regular spot treatments weren’t doing a thing. Then I remembered reading something in Kristen Ma’s Book about moisturizing a pimple instead of trying to dry it out. I figured I had nothing to lose so I dabbed a generous amount of this oil onto the areas of concern. Would you beleive that overnight they went down significantly?!? Don’t get me wrong, the breakouts were definitely still there but the swelling had definitely subsided and I no longer looked like a strange animal.  It was crazy!
This oil is now a staple in my routine. I actually wash with it first – it’s great at getting rid of my makeup and eye makeup and it feels amazing when massaged into my skin. I then continue my routine with cleanser, serum and moisturizer and for problem areas I apply this oil right on top.
Have you ever tried these products out before? What are your miracle products?
***Disclosure: I received both these products for review consideration***

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
