My Dermalogica Giveaway Win from The Backseat Stylers

Posted on July 14, 2011November 15, 2015 by Elaine

I’m am seriously one lucky girl!  I’ve been privileged to win numerous giveaways, the latest coming from one of my favorite Fashion blogs The Backseat Stylers.  This time it was a Dermalogica prize back!  The giveaway was posted here.

Here’s my prize! A Dermalogica daily defense prize pack!

Solar Defense Booster and Solar Defense Wipes

So what exactly did I win?

The Solar Defense Booster is for daily use and can be used alone or mixed with moisturizer or foundation.

Some people may be interested in the ingredients so I took a picture of the box.

I have to say I was a bit worried about this one – usually I use moisturizers with sunscreens in them already because straight sunscreens are usually really kind of thick and heavy.  Since I have oily skin I’m always worried about heavy lotions clogging up my pores and aggravating my skin.  I’m really pleased this was not the case!

A “dollop” of the sunscreen on the back of my hand – I was still a little worried here – it looks so opaque and heavy!

Look how nicely it blends! It’s actually quite a nice thin but not watery consistency and blends so easily into my skin.

IMG_3226
Voila!  It completely disappeared into my skin! No chalky or white residue.

So I used this on my face alone – I didn’t bother mixing it with any moisturizer or with my foundation and if felt very comfortable on my oily skin.

I’ve actually been using this product daily and loving it so far!

Next up are the Solar Defense Wipes – they essentially look like baby wipes but are soaked in sun block ingredients.

Ummm…I have to admit.  I was pretty skeptical about these. I usually apply my sunscreen in a cream form since the one I use doubles as my moisturizer.  The first time I went to use it I hesitated – I was confused because I had just applied body lotion (no SPF) and I was thinking that the wipes would wipe my lotion off.  So I saved them for the next day.   The next day came and I was thinking “how can I just use these wipes and no lotion – my skin will be dry” but I decided to try them out anyway.

The very first thing I noticed was that I did smell alcohol – not super strong but it was apparent.
The second thing I noticed was that wipes felt like they had lotion or oil on it – so there was definitely product there!

Then I started using the wipes.  The alcohol smell dissipated quickly and a bit of a film was left on my skin which I just used the wipe to rub into my skin.

So…I am quite impressed with these wipes!  My skin actually felt REALLY soft afterwards and there was no oily or sticky residue.  Actually I felt like these left a nice sheen to my skin especially on my arms.  I did have to wipe the palms of my hands with a tissue – I’m thinking that a lot of the product got tranferred to my hands since I was holding the wipes and re-positioning them.  In hindsight I should have just used the excess product from my hands on my neck and ears!

The smell was nice too – smelled kind of fruity but not overwhelming and not like “fake” or “candy” fruit, like real fruit – apples came to mind right away but I’m thinking that maybe it’s the grape extract?

I think these wipes are PERFECT for throwing into your bag when you’re out on the go – you can reapply so easily!  One wipe easily covered my legs and my arms – I only used them on exposed areas but I think I could have easily used one on most of my body (please remember, I’m a petite and therefore have short arms and legs – so I might have less skin to cover than a lot of people 😛  )

My ONLY issue with these is that there are only 15 wipes in the pouch so you will likely go through these really fast.

So I’m super impressed with the Daily Defense items I was able to try courtesy of The Backseat Stylers giveway 🙂  Thanks so much Sharon!

Have you tried out any Dermalogica products?  What’s your favorite sunscreen?

  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
