My FIRST Toronto Beauty Bloggers Meetup and Things I Learned

Posted on March 29, 2011November 22, 2014 by Elaine

Well if you haven’t heard already there was a FABULOUS Toronto Beauty Bloggers (TBB) meetup held on Sunday March 27th, 2011 at the Loki Salon provided by Kavita hosted by the fabulous Farah of Faces by Farah .

This was my first EVER meetup with TBB and I have to admit – I was nervous and intimidated! I remember before buying my ticket email Farah and asking her if it was ok for me to attend since I wasn’t a makeup artist and my blog was very new.  Farah with her virtual open arms told me to come so I did!

Boy am I glad I did!  By fluke I met Farah at another event the week before but other than that I didn’t know anyone at the event and was having trouble getting everyone’s names and twitter handles straight LOL!

Here are a few photos then I’ll post what I learned from the meetup.

First up, some pictures of the beautiful venue (because I got there early 😛 )

Overloaded with pictures?  Sorry!!!
Ok so here’s what I learned:
1) Beauty Bloggers are NOT scary.  They are amazing and so super friendly and welcoming
2) I need business cards LOL – this should have been a no brainer for me but I’m pretty new to the blogging world and never even THOUGHT about carrying business cards for my two blogs.
3) I’m better with twitter handles than I am with names…but now that I have put twitter handles WITH names to FACES I think I will be able to remember in the future (but please don’t test me)
4) TBB meet ups are AMAZING!  And even though I didn’t know ONE person there, it was really cool because I still felt like I belonged 🙂
Some people I didn’t get pictures of THIS time but I will for sure next time that I wanted to say “hi” to:
Jenn of Spiced Beauty who KNEW who I was before I introduced myself…talk about flattered!
Jill of Batting a Lash with whom I tweet with a lot about Avon stuff 😉
Meredith of Et Tu and You who I LOVED chatting with 🙂
Lena of Listen to Lena who was so full of energy and loved my name LOL!

Fiona of the Product War series that I JUST discovered…it was fun hanging with you!

And of course I can’t wait to get to know MANY of the other ladies I tweet with but  didn’t get a chance to chat with on Sunday 🙂

Well that’s it from me, I’m looking forward to being more a part of the TBB community and of course looking forward to the next meet up.

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
