OURS by Cheryl Hickey

Posted on November 10, 2014May 19, 2015 by Sohnee

Whenever there is a new Made in Canada line I get really excited. When I heard that OURS by Cheryl Hickey was launching the news piqued my interest! I unfortunately couldn’t attend the media launch but was able to have Sohnee test out many of the products in the line. Read more about this new local brand.

*****

I have moved a fair number of times in my life and every time, I realize that I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF! In preparation for each move, I’ll go through my stuff, see what I can consolidate, what can be donated, and what should be thrown out. My past two moves have included my partner, so we have twice as many things and therefore, needed to consolidate even more. I have a new-found appreciation for products that can do multiple things (well) for multiple people. That’s why I was so excited to try a new line of body and skin care products, OURS.

OURS-by-Cheryl-Hickey-group

OURS is a Canadian creation by our own Entertainment Tonight Canada’s Cheryl Hickey.

She is a mother of two and appreciates the need for everyday products that are safe to use for everyone in the family. The entire line is packaged with families in mind. The side of each bottle has a meter to let you know how much product is left in the container. From “full house” to “empty nest”, you’ll know when you need to go back to Rexall for more. As always, I’m excited to try something new that doesn’t contain silicones or artificial fragrances and colours. OURS products are cruelty-free and don’t contain any animal products. The best part for me is that both my partner and I can share, so we don’t have as much clutter around our bathroom anymore! He has really sensitive skin, so is hesitant when trying anything new, but he took to these items pretty readily. If/when we have children, it’s great to know that we can continue to use OURS on them, too! It’s a really convenient line of products for your body, face, and hair. These are the four items (out of the currently line-up of eight) that I tried:

OURS-by-Cheryl-Hickey-face-body-exfoliator

Face & Body Exfoliator $11.99

I use a mild exfoliator on my face every morning and on my body at least once a week. This lets me use one product instead of two. Plus, it contains shea butter and cocoa butter, so it’s seriously moisturizing while it helps slough off dead skin cells. You can also use it as a conditioning mask on your face if you leave it on for 10 minutes. The exfoliating beads aren’t harsh, but you can definitely feel them when you’re rubbing this onto your face.

OURS-by-Cheryl-Hickey-3-in-1-cleansing-oil-new
3-in-1 Hydrating Oil $14.99

This can be used in your hair (I clearly love my hair oils!), but also on your skin. I loved using it as a massage oil; with the calming scent of lavender, it’s a great way to help me fall asleep after an evening shower. It doesn’t feel greasy and gets absorbed really nicely into my skin.

OURS-by-Cheryl-Hickey-24-hour-face-cream

24 Hour Face Cream $14.99

There is some serious hydration with this face cream, so a little goes a long way. It contains pear extract (and smells like it) to make the skin look and feel smooth while rosehip oil helps to protect and repair my skin’s appearance. The pump makes it a mess-free way to get everyone in your family ready in the morning.

OURS-by-Cheryl-Hickey-2-in-1-conditioner

2-in-1 Conditioner $11.99

This conditioner is really thick, so you can put it in your hair as a mask, or rinse it out earlier as a detangling conditioner. Either way, your hair feels softer and looks shiny. I wish the pump would expel more product per pump, though; I have long hair, so it would take a while to get enough product onto my palm.

This is a line that is safe, natural, and honest. You can be confident putting these things on your children and yourself, knowing that you’ve made a healthier choice for your family. OURS can be found exclusively through Rexall.

  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
